Just announced the girl who scored the winner for Spain today, Olga Carmona, found out her dad had passed away immediately after the full time whistle. How horrendous for her, to reach the pinnacle of your career in football and have such a joyous moment snatched away by something devastating, that eclipses winning any football match.
Oh, no! That’s awful. She’s never going to remember the match in a happy way now, she’ll feel guilt at being away from him and celebrating when he had died. Poor, poor woman.
That's awful. I hate Christmas because my dad passed away 23rd December so every Christmas reminds me of that.
Are you trying to tell me the commentary was good then fired?, because imho it was terribly biased , lots of people said the same. Plus I only said if the penalty was the other way round people would be up in arms, if you watched the position from behind the goal she went early.
Apparently it was a long standing illness and her mother and brothers , who supported the decision not to tell her, had flown home, but then flew back to support her in and after the final , so at least she wasn’t alone, which was something.
The commentary when the mens side is on is incredibly bias too to be fair. Always has been, especially the 'golden generation', lampard, Rooney, Gerrard,Terry, ferdinand and co. Some awful performances, but you wouldn't have thought so if you had only listened to commentary and not watched it
tbf I 'm pretty sure I was annoyed by that too, I just can't see why they can't say it 'as it is' instead of making routine stuff out to be outstanding.
No its not even that, I don't get particularly passionate about any football these days except Barnsley, including the men's national team so tend to comment dispassionately on it. Earps I don't particularly like as I think she is far too full of herself, but equally there are a load of male footballers who I don't like for the same reason.
Geoff Hurst has joined the group moaning that no royal or MP went to Australia to watch the final. Why? I think they did the right thing. It's a very long way to go for one Football match. Think of the carbon footprint when royals and MPs are telling us all to think of the environment. It's completely different to when representatives were at Wembley for the men. I am sure when they get home they will be suitably praised for what they have achieved. I saw a bus parade mentioned, please God no. Save that for when teams have a trophy to parade. Don't be like the Welsh Football team the other year. New years honours list should be packed with names. Wiegman will surely be made an honorary dame.
