Thought we'd got two players in:
Dyer Basford and Makiessi Jon Basford
    The Basford brothers

They must have a crystal ball:

"Dyer, meanwhile, bagged 16 goals in 25 outings during the historic 23/24 season, and was also on target three times for our U21s."

That's the last we'll see of them. Feel free to bump but it won't happen.

Good luck to them, hope they have a nice little purple patch.

Not really sure why, even on this thread, people are being negative. It's always a positive players going out on loan and gaining experience and playing men's football

Spot on they're still representing Barnsley Football Club. Hope they do themselves proud.

Think it's the level they have been sent to. Even if they bang lots of goals in, which I hope they do, we won't have any more of an idea if they are ready to do a job for us.

It’s men’s football, and will help bring them on.

Only for a month, but they both need it. It’s a sensible choice.

But it's only a month - league clubs won't just take punts on random U18s academy players in league one on loan bud. We don't have the luxury of world class facilities like the elite clubs do. Any men's football is better than youth football, if they do play well, they'll either be promoted to the U23's permanently, or when their loans finish they'll be loaned back out to a club higher in the pyramid. I can only see it as a positive matey

Even the top players in the world go out on loan to develop certain attributes. I'd guess they are needing to work on the more physical side of the mens game in comparison to playing kiddies footy.

Good luck to them both. Sure they'll take what they can from the experience.

You can't force players onto clubs higher up, plus you want them to play .. if they don't play they may as well stay here

Don’t think they will gain that much experience Helen only how to get out of the way of a big hairy centre half who would be standing on there toes,of course they’ll get game time Wich is a good thing but I would rather them be involved at our club, pressing for a place from the bench and then giving a good run IN the team. We talk about giving managers time to adapt it’s exactly the same for young players

Don’t really agree it’s catch 22,the lads need game time at League level and that is hard to fit them into the first team. Still think they should be pressing for a place with us,
    Just my thoughts

That's level 7/8 of the pyramid.

Are they not able to attract interest at National league (level 5) or even National league north (6).

It seems a lot of our players when we loan them out go quite a way down the pyramid. Is that really beneficial, I dunno?

Maybe it indicates where they're at in terms of adult football.
That's not a criticism either but if they were at a higher stage then surely that would reflect in the clubs wanting them on loan?

It's probably an educated guess based on the fact that we've to play Port Vale again :D
