Weren't Hendrie & Fjortoft alleged to have fallen out, and it never worked out between them when John became manager ?.

That's a shame and it wasn't beneficial to the team.
And after Fjortoft had gone, and while Ward was suspended and about to go, remember we had Don Goodman and Mike Turner and Karl Rose up front.
None of them could find a banjo, let alone hit a cows ar*se with it!!.

All subjective, x11, but I wouldn't have Currie in the same league. I'm still surprised we managed to sign him. It was a great bit of business, and he almost kept us up.

Been watching Reds for 50 odd years and he’s the best striker we’ve had bar none.
    IMHO

He had that bit of class and flair which was rare in many strikers of that time although he certainly lacked consistency.
However, Ward was definitely a better forward but I loved watching Currie

Aye, different attributes, eh? I loved watching Mick Butler. Not the most skilful striker we've had, but none made more effort in a red shirt.

Imho I've been watching since around 1975 and would say Ward was the best I've seen..literally no weakness in his game. Big, strong seemed two footed held the ball up and could bring others into game, good in the air, could take on players and great shot and finisher.....oh and very good looking!!
    Geddis next best.

Speaking of Currie (and let's not have any jokes about hot and spicy ehh lol), there weren't many times where he was on top form in his second time with us.

Currie was just a completely different sort of player. A striker who could take defenders on as well as most wingers. One of the most entertaining players I've ever watched, but definitely not your traditional striker. Not a target man, not a fox in the box. A dribbling striker.
