Needs to be given the chance until top six mathematically cannot happen. Khaled has ****** him over. We won’t go down. This summer has done us for the next few months as it’s too late to salvage in my opinion. It’s all about what Collins can do with the very good 9 or 10 players we have for this level and getting to January. He has looked out of his depth but hopefully with the successful Football League career he had, he’ll learn quickly. The main issue is the CEO.
Didn't Johnson say as soon as he knew Brizzle were interested, and he went there to talk to them... then he'd made his mind up, they didn't need to ask him twice or tempt him anymore, they're his home town/city club etc!.
We did, we lost 2 league one games and one game against league one derby. It may have been a cup game not a league game but it was still very much this level
As you say, we lost 3 games in a row last season, conceding 8 and failing to score: 0-3 at home to Bolton (FA Cup), 0-3 away at Derby, and 0-2 away at Charlton. We also had a run of 4 games that included 3 defeats and no victories: 0-3 at home to Wycombe, 1-3 away at Leeds (EFL Cup), 2-2 away at Ipswich, and 0-3 at home to Lincoln (Football League Trophy). Discounting cup competitions we had a run of 4 games with 3 defeats, no victories, and no goals scored: 0-2 at home to Exeter, 0-0 at home to Bolton, 0-1 away at Morecambe, and 0-1 at home to Lincoln.
We are a team looking to get promoted (allegedly). Last season that wasn’t really the aim or expectation unless we massively overachieved(which we did) the board have set him up to fail with too many inexperienced lower league players all coming in at the same time and a head coach who doesn’t have any real knowledge from a managerial perspective of this country in the past 5+ years. Not really a shock it’s not worked thus far tbh.
Other than Schopp and possibly Morais I'm struggling to think of anyone we should have sacked sooner in the past decade. If we'd have been more trigger happy we'd have got rid of some managers who ended up doing well for us.
There was a time when I would’ve empathised with this post but quite frankly I’m now fed up with the ‘one step forward, one step backward’ fortunes of our club. In 15/16 we saw off Millwall in the play off final and since we have been relegated, promoted and relegated yet again. On the other hand Millwall have since been promoted and are now an established championship club. Why is that? In 18/19 we were again promoted as runners up to Luton. They started this season in the PL whilst we started our second season in league one. Why? Over the last few seasons Coventry sank into league 2 and became the ‘Gypo’s’ of the football league. They are now another established championship club who were pushing strongly for promotion to the PL last season. Not that long ago Bolton looked in danger of following Bury into bankruptcy. They slumped into league 2 but have now turned it around and pushed for promotion last season and seem to have picked up where they left off this season Why is it that all these clubs can make steady year on year progress and we can’t? Why didn’t Swansea go knocking on Plymouth’s door for a new coach? Or Ipswich’s or Bolton’s You say we should give him time but we are giving someone or other time every six to twelve months and I for one am fed up with giving it time.
Here ******* here, post of the year this and completely sums up my feelings too. It’s never anyone else and always seems to be us hitting the re-set button every season. I suppose we should just be happy with have a club though, eh?!
It’s money. Chucking money at it. That’s all. There are maybe a few exceptions but generally it’s money. Also any suggestion the manager should be under pressure is crazy.
I don’t accept that at all. With the exception of Millwall all of those clubs originally got into difficulties through financial mismanagement and have since progressed in the league and have done so with financial prudence in so far as I am aware I haven’t made any suggestion at all re Collins, he just happens to be the guy in the chair when I chose to vent my frustrations with the situation overall
I disagree. The reasons they have managed to kick on/remain in the championship is spending more than they earn in the most part. Something even we have done but just to a lesser extent. For reference: https://x.com/kieranmaguire/status/1649079326950694914?s=46&t=ydwtkCONZhyuI7yfwhjwXw Until we follow the same model that then we are where we are. as for the manager that was more aimed at other posters.
Brilliant post that sums up my feelings to a tee, but unfortunately it seems im not allowed this opinion because it upsets Brian Mahoneys Waist
I rarely click 'Like' on here, but that did make me laugh. I totally agree with the comments about how we've continually stagnated as a club, far too many times over the years, and kept hitting the re-set button. While others have gone ahead of us and established themselves at a higher level, the level we do still want to be at.
