    No disrespect to him but that's a ridiculous jump in standard especially when Khaled spoke about covering all eventualities when we knew that Mads and Thomas wouldn't be here.

    No disrespect to the lad but Shepard is not a Marc Roberts or Ethan Pinnock...... As much as the board would like him to be. How bad is this french lad if two non league players are in front of him

    No it’s not. We’ve got 6 centre backs at the club. 3 are injured & ones just had a poor debut.

    If you lose that many players in one position a kid or someone out of position is always going to play.

    It’s no different to a Brad Abbott playing in the JPT semi or Josh Kay starting in the championship years ago against Bristol.

    If I had to bet money on him been injured or not I know which I'd be going. Wigan a rugby town but this scoreline could be a rugby score.

    How many league standard players are we expected to have in each position? Clearly many fans on here think 6 isn’t enough centre backs. How many do you want? 8? 10? Do we do the same for every position? How big do you want the first team squad to be? 40 players? 50? Who’s paying for it?

    You get lots of injuries in one position & you have to play a young lad. It’s nothing new. We’re all a bit down over poor results but use a bit of common sense & criticise when it’s justified & not just for the sake of it.

    I'll be honest, McCarthy has been injured for so long I'd forgotten about him, and Cundy slipped my mind too. We've still signed non-league players to fill in though, and signed a lad from a team relegated from Ligue 2 who's not good enough to warrant a start ahead of them. It's just not good in my opinion.

    I really, really hope Shepherd does well today and he and the rest of the lads prove me wrong.

    Think its safe to say that as a club we don't build, we reset and restart. Thats our strategy.
