I am a little disappointed we are not 2 or 3 to the good to be honest. The red card has had a massive effect on the game - there's space all over and they seem to be really struggling to get the ball. But we have taken advantage of the decision in our favour and played pretty well there. I just hope we don't regret those good chances to increase the lead but to be honest, a little bit of sensible game management and there is no reason why we don't win this from here.
I don't agree that they were streets ahead. I think we had it tactically spot on. Let them have the ball in areas where they couldn't hurt us, then hit them on the break.
I've got to be happy with that score line. The red card helped has it allowed us to be more attacking to pin them back rather than putting the pressure on our defence.
Since the sending off. Wigan looked to be getting into their stride before that, although didn't really make many chances.
Fair dos. I thought they were passing the ball round us for fun and all we seemed to have was a long ball.
Interesting how we all see the game differently. They started well for sure, but I thought we were growing into it when they got the red card.
Really good half from us, probably should be 2 or 3 up. Agree with the others who have said the sending off changed the game. Was starting to get nervous about how well they were keeping the ball. We were still playing well and have looked threatening on the break from the off. Definitely an improvement over the last 2 games! Stay disciplined in the second half, no stupid challenges, make the extra man count and we’re laughing
Big shout for Collins today who has got the tactics absolutely perfect. Wigan's defence is glacial in its speed. We think Barnsley has a lack of pace. Crikey. If other clubs are watching this Wigan are in for a long season. Totally exposed. Watters ran past their defenders like they were sleeping. Cotter has been doing similar all the first half. Their lad just jogged alongside as Cole ran onto a ball he had no right being first to. I really thought Wigan would be better than this. They're not bad in the other positions, having plenty of possession before the red card, but defensively, the weakest Barnsley have come up against by a long shot and are likely to all season. I'm still puzzling over that free kick against Cadden. What the f*** did the ref see? Baffling.
They did indeed start strong and I think its true that we were holding them well. But they are a strong side and we still had a long way to go. Hard to say how it would have gone without the red card but the effect of them receiving that red has been profound. So far. It completely neutered them as an attacking threat.
