My worry is that in each of the last three games we've had first half chances, really very good chances, to be at least 2 or 3 goals to the good. We've then begun to tire before falling to pieces in the second half. As soon as Russell begins to tire he has to come off as he can no longer run.
A lot of people on here saying the Red Card has changed the game. I thought we were doing OK prior to that, and as someone posted earlier, we earned the sending off with the pressure we were applying. Although the card may have changed the game, how often does it seem to favor the 10-man side? Early doors, but looking OK at the moment.
I don't know the defender was toe to toe with him.. what surprised me was his pace, where did that come from
Going to have to weather a bit of a storm. Be nice to hit them on the counter now like we were doing before the red card and kill the game off. It's games like this where we could do with a Sam Nombe type. Someone with a bit of physicality who can hold the ball up field.
I thought they kept the ball better than us without really doing much with it. I think it was a little too early to tell but all the signs were pointing to them being the better side.
I think the game plan was to let them have possession and try and hit them on the break. That went out of the window when they went down to 10 men.
We need a 2nd goal or I fancy Wigan to come back and get the spoils. We seem to be fairly easy to break down even playing against 10 men.
