Great result but i thought the second half performance was awful it’s papered over alot of cracks for me.

 

Glad for the win but wish we wouldn't sit back so much, especially against 10 men

 

None. Although it's an indicator as to just how tedious the lad can be that people are reacting like that.

Indeed but a positive in that we are creating chances to be missed. Like you say, hopefully it’ll all come when our finishing boots have been found.

Play low crosses in to the box and Devante will score goals.

 

I thought we did alright...I accept they were a man down, and I would have liked to see more urgency, but we had 19 shots, one goal disallowed, missed two sitters, hit a post...they only had one shot on target in 95 mins.

 

Nah, I'm sure he's happy we've won. Be the bigger person and don't resort to that.

He's entitled to his opinions, he does need to stop looking for the negative in everything the club do though

 

Fantastic result. From the commentary, it sounds like we played quite well. We made use of the man advantage, limited them to just a couple of chances, and eventually killed the game off.

Sounds like McAtee pressed well when he came on, which is what we've certainly been missing when making substitutions, so early signs on him are promising.

5 in 5 for Cole. He's a natural finisher. Play to his strengths and you'll get the best from him. Well on course for his best season ever.

Well deserved clean sheet for Roberts and Jack Shepherd.

 

The happy clappers take the board back for the night! It’s a much better place on here when that’s the case. In my opinion anyway.

 

I thought we got it tactically correct to be honest. They only looked like scoring twice - once the "penalty" incident when we couldn't get the ball clear, and once when Roberts made an excellent save. The issue was that we were still only 1-0 up when it should have already been 3 or 4.

Let's just be grateful for the good result. I've found the negativity on here as unbearable as the next person, so lets focus on giving the club credit where its due.

 

“Awful” is a bit harsh. I thought we should have put the ball in the back of the net more but I’d love to know what adjective you’d use to describe last week if that was awful!

 

Big congrats to young Shepherd making his debut. Looking very promising on this showing. Thinking Watters will be struggling for game time if McAtee continues going forward like he’s started today. He did far more in 35mins than Watters did in 65mins

 

Solid at the back was a massive plus point. One amazing save from Roberts kept us in the game & may have won us the match. Shepherd, what a debut. I'll give him MOTM for be thrown in the deep end & doing superbly. Going forward we were excellent. Was glad when Watters was subbed, as he looked a bit of a weak link, but not really a day to criticise, when there were so many great performances. For me it was a sending off. Take the man & the ball from behind, when they are the last man & the ref has thee option. How many times have we been penalised for less? Time for people to get off Collins back & give him some breathing space. Also credit to the board for the McAtee signing. Marsh looks good too. Phillips working his balls off defensively too was a bit of a revelation.

 

Yes that Mcatee if given service will be handy for us.I still think our chances to scoring ratio still leaves a bit to be desired.

 

I respectfully disagree. Before the red they looked neat and tidy with the ball but it was all in front of us. I don’t really remember Roberts doing much all game apart from the header from the free kick in the second half.

It did get a bit hairy in the early periods of the second half I’ll admit but I still think we had the chances to make that a really convincing win.

Of course, we’ll never know what would have happened. It will be interesting to see the red card again but we didn’t half get a few dodgy decisions last season so maybe they’re finally going to start evening themselves out.

 

Absolutely stonking result. Chuffed with that. Having a man extra for an hour obviously helped a lot but we weren't guaranteed anything - well done lads.
