Disagree. We played nowhere near that bad. Better finishing and we'd have put this to bed much earlier.
A very good win, against a side who'll be up there come the end of the season. No doubt the 1 man advantage helped, but we'll take it. Still, a lot more work to be done, but its a step in the right direction, hopefully the board can get another couple of players of quality through the door to help Collins mould the side into what he wants. Hearing the Cardiff winner on radio Sheffield makes this result all the more sweeter!
Need to sign cole up for a longer contract. Good to see marsh taking his chance off the bench. Shaw got to be loaned out surely
I totally agree that the ratio is out of kilter, but I'm more than happy we're at least making many chances. McAteer and Marsh today have boosted my confidence a little.
Interestingly, the commentators mentioned how well he is working off the ball. It just doesn't seem to be happening for him on the ball. Hopefully, that will change.
Watters needs to up his play rate! Very poor first touch and his second touch is a tackle! I'm hoping more game time will sort him out...but so far seen nothing to suggest he will be front two starter...imho.
EXTRA EXTRA NICE seeing wendies BOTTOM of league, that's one wish i made and us to go up and pass em.
I’m happy with the 3 points mate, no doubt about it. I’m not happy with the performance though. I think it’s possible to be both. I’m certainly not revelling in it though. I think the red card got us out of jail, and I think there’s a hell of a lot of work ahead of us. That’s just my opinion though.
Leaves us still learning, same as beginning of last season and look how that transpired. Give em time.
Firstly a fantastic result. Some plus points Wigan are a very good team at L1 level so an away win is not insignificant. Collins looked more tactically astute than previously. Shepherd was excellent and McAtee looked good albeit in a stretched game against a tired defence. Negatives. we still looked disjointed and are some levels below where we were last season. Wigan could and perhaps should have scored in the first 15-20 minutes of the second half. Watters who I like struggled once again though put a lot of effort in. so probably difficult to take anything other than the victory from that really.
Ten men still have to be beaten. Just ask Arsenal today. I thought we were extremely professional, the only disappointment being that we didn't make it safe sooner.
Superb performance. They didn’t look like scoring. Ten men helped but nowhere near our standards. Onwards and upwards!
Agree with all of that. Would add that we are still significantly understrength at the moment. Also, although we're not anywhere near the levels we were at during the second half last season, we were far better today than we were in any game at the start of last season before Sheffield Wednesday away.
Just saying what i see. Wasn't at the game, so can only praise the team on the result, performance is secondary at this stage. What is apparent to anyone, even Stevie Wonder, is that we still need a couple of players in before the deadline! Then hopefully after next weekend a two week break can help Collins & co get across how he wants to play.
Been a very good day out. A terrific win that I never saw coming. McAtee looked useful but MoM was Russell. Immense in midfield today.
