Can a team who we have loaned a player on a season long loan recall the player at any point during the season ?
Thank you I honestly didn’t know Got a good freind who’s a boro fan and apparently the 1st choice keeper isn’t performing so was worried they may recall Liam Roberts
That's been on my mind as well, with Middlesbrough and their current keeper struggling. Who was it who Leicester took back off us in the January, was it Ryan Kent, in the Hecky/Morais relegation season ?.
Can possibly recall him this week , but then not until January if there is even a recall option in the loan. I think we are safe till then though And dont forget Roberts was 3rd choice so I would expect them to give the 2nd choice a go if the first is off form
I may have imagined it, but I thought the rules had been updated so that a season long long couldn't be terminated by the parent club in the January window? If I did imagine it, then that should be the rule. If you want the option to recall them, make it a loan till the January window with an option to extend to end of season!
And of course going back a bit further, Man Utd recalled Drinkwater so they could sell him to Leicester, halfway through a season long loan. We've not done right well by Leicester in January's over the years.
I don't understand why we haven't made an offer to take Roberts permanently already though. He's clearly a good keeper, and is only likely to attract more attention as the season goes on. Gerrin theer!
We may well have done, but it's not like Middlesbrough and other clubs won't have noticed that he's performed well so far.
Ahh Harvey Barnes, I'm mixing up my Premiership loanees lol. Yeah Barnes was doing so well for us, what a disappointing way to lose him like that. I have wondered as well if we've already thought about making the keeper deal permanent, after he's started so well for us. Can this be done though, during a season long loan ?.
He is also a free agent at the end of the season. So I can imagine he also as a huge say ,knowing that he can demand a good contract ,being a free agent. I'm sure is agent will be rubbing his hands in anticipation of this.
