Its like a game on social media.I can't remember the last signing that got everyones approvel but almost every signing is belittled or trashed.
How do peoples minds work when a player is dissed before he even puts the shirt on.
Wouldn't it be better to actually watch a player play then judge.
Attee got the treatment last Friday then put on a decent first show. Some of those who slated him now want him to be the first name on the team sheet.Connell got the same treatment last season and look how he,s turned out.Shephard,Cotter even Russell have had the same stick and all are showing there worth at the moment.Others may fall by the wayside but please give the players especially the new ones chance to show what they can bring to the team before crucifying them.

That is true to a certain degree. However the signing of players from lower and even non league has made us sceptical at times of the management at Oakwell.

Does it matter where they come from.Over the years we,ve signed some great non league players and some not so great but in my view its not right to judge until we;ve seen them play.Hopefuly Shephard ,Dallas etc can join the list of excellent non leaguec players we have signed.

BMW it will always be the same, you think people want them to fail to prove that they were right. I think we all know the model, we buy unknowns and sell for profit hopefully. Brentford and Brighton have done it, albeit at an higher level
. Never heard of Caucedo, Mbuemo and like before they played for them. I give them all a fair go and understand some will do well…hourihane and Roberts etc and some wil have met their level or not like Mallen, Lindsay etc.

That’s why I’ve never been on social media. I have a LinkedIn account, but that was for work-related networking. However, that’s getting like FaceBook now since Microsoft took over. I’ll stick with email, text, mobile, and of course the well-balanced BBS.

I've recently left the BFC supporters group on FB, as every post seems to get hijacked by a certain ex-poster from here, who seems to be an even bigger bellend on Facebook than he was on the BBS. Seems to have a very unhealthy obsession with Gally. HTH.

Twitter is especially atrocious for the standard of football discussion. Literally 90% of the contributors are unable to string together even the most basic sentence in English, to the point that it severely impedes understanding. Not that I think anyone's missing out by failing to comprehend what most people on there have to say.

Without a mega rich owner what's the alternative?
A team full of, to quote Patrick, dead fish eyed old pros. The likes of Lita, Treacey, etc?
Running up a 40 or 50 million debt?
I get the need to blend in some experience but the fact is that no one on here has a credible alternative that keeps us both solvent and competitive.
It's not a current Board phenomenon. We've operated like this for pretty much all our history. Sometimes with disastrous consequences. I remember in the mid eighties we sold all our three top scorers and replaced them with basically nothing. We lost the first six games of the following season. All the fans could see what would happen so I'm sure the Board did too. Unfortunately the need for cash must have been urgent and we had to take the risk.
Nombe. All we can do is speculative whether we actually went after him. If we did and it's a choice between first team starter for us or Rotherham for him I'd be thinking, if I were him....If I can score 15 this season in the Championship I'm gonna be made for life. Regardless of whether Rotherham are in our league next season or even the one below us.

Facebook is bad, but Twitter is an absolute cesspit. I know they won't, but there's probably a reasonable argument for the Club to disable replies. You know it's bad, when JAQ has gone from 'say anything you want, I even like the negative comments', to 'I probably need to rethink my approach to Twitter'

    Mark robins era

Normal balanced squad with no age quota

Blend in loanees, older players and a handful of younger ones with the core of the squad thats already in place

    Solid manager, solid squad

He was/is a good manager. But he wouldn't work with the budget Patrick wanted. He ended up at Coventry where he's done an excellent job but I'm fairly sure I read the other day that City had run up some pretty serious debts over recent years. They're also back to having attendances five or six thousand higher than us. If we were pulling in 19000 a week in the Championship I'm sure our budget would be a bit more competitive.

The problem was, he was given a better budget than the manager before, and probably most managers since him, and had a ppg worse than Dave Flitcroft. You've said cutting our cloth accordingly has got us nowhere, but spending beyond our means on expensive journeymen didn't do us any good either.

Even though its worked time and time again in the past? Probably more so than signing 'experienced' players from the league above, or young players from the Premier League?

I don't do Faceache. Twitter or any social media group. don't even read any other Forum from Reds fans..but I do subscribe to the belief that one or two known players ( Look at what a difference an experienced Saulbaur made) could steer the younger less experienced in the right direction...but again the suggestion that any of us want the club to fail just so they can be right about their mlsgivings is absoloutley ludicrous..and as I said in a recent post I've never seen a post that suggests we spend trillions we ant got.....not confident this season but estatic to be wrong....
