“Judge us by our actions” maybe some of the people negative about the board and their intentions can start to trust them a bit more now?
It’s not the money - it’s an entire new back 4 almost (inc. keeper). We’ve done that before, and it kills you. It’s got to be a gradual renewal. Also the structure of the deal often complicates matters. Coventry haven’t got all their cash up front either.
Is it just me that thinks he's worth more than that? I think he has the potential to be better than Mads, who was a personal favourite of mine (mainly due to his infectious smile & attitude). Kitch is a good defender, but also has that rare ability to pop up in unexpected positions and open up defences
I think this is right. We probably won't see a bid like this for Kitch again (I was speaking to John Dennis about this before the last home game. I got the impression he would have been inclined to sell and reinvest hypothetically speaking if he was faced with this decision) but we can't replace an entire back line inc 2 captains and still think about a promotion, can we? (unless we get really lucky with recruitment, including some quality loans). That said, Lopata and Shepherd look like decent signings but it's early days.
The factuals are is our local reporters have said 4 million rejected. Of course I'm guessing that it won't be 4 up front. It doesn't even say if we have counter offered or anything. But at least for once we do have some kind of figure rather than the usual undisclosed bolox
You say not better than Anderson, but for me at back of last season he was better than him, it’s only start of this season and all speculation turning his head that has caused a dip in form for me......he will go on and have very good career wherever he ends up I reckon
Well I'm torn on this one. Very difficult and no doubt so for the club as well. On the face of it, £4m+ for Kitching seems like excellent business and money we might not get offered again. If they bid £5m without add-on clauses, he probably has to go. But... to have another summer where we lose our entire back line including goalkeeper and 2x captains, isn't good at all. A perfect scenario would be to get the money for Kitch and get a proven replacement in (on loan perhaps) before the deadline. Marc Roberts anyone?
Thought they was both good last season but I thought mads was excellent and our best defender. All opinions I suppose.
Guessing the counter offer will be pay majority of it upfront and if the rumour of 25% is correct then really you are only looking at 3m tops anyway and then it’s the whole replacing him at this late stage of a transfer window also.
Find it a bit strange that at least one party is happy to release figures for bids but not for actual transfers tbh. Is this leak actually just a 'paving the way' move? Not necessary for me as £4m is plenty imho and we should take it. I don't get the bit about losing the back four in one go - we've already lost the best three-quarters of it imho and it looks also like Kitching's thoughts are elsewhere anyway. And in terms of replacements I think we could be bringing in all three of Pollock, Tucker and an experienced head like Guthrie (plenty of alternates to those three I'm sure) with this kind of money which would be far superior to what we've got and a p'd off Kitching, probably with some change left over to add up front.
Don't be silly. Who needs facts and evidence. Disbelieve everything the board says and believe the anonymous InterWeb trolls. It's the BFC BBS way!
I mentioned Marc Roberts in a thread a couple of days ago. If we could get an experienced CB like him on loan I'd take the £4m.
If he doesn't go i hope he knuckles down and plays like he can ,not like last couple of games he's played in,and this isn't a criticism.
He’s been carrying a knock hasnt he? The one that kept him out of the Leeds game I think. (May also have had his head turned of course)
