    I'm loving your patient, welcoming, glass half full attitude as we take on another young lad who, cos he might be interested, is reading this forum to see how his transfer has been received by the Barnsley fans.

    Only Played 18 times as was a Jan signing only lost once when playing as a LB the other 8 was LM

    This lad might be better than Winfield or allow him a chance to go on loan and get more minutes to help his development.

    I’m more concerned about our own young lads that are getting shipped a side for young lads that don’t belong to us and will be back at their parent clubs by the end of the season.

    Signings like these are basically an FU to our academy.

    And if he is better he won’t be ours beyond this season so it’s pointless. Focus on making likes of Winfield better or what’s the point in having an academy if we’re going to put other clubs youth players above our own?

    Barnsley FC - brings cover for LWB from a Premier League team, the club/CEO are useless.

    I can just imagine the whining on here if our second choice left back until January was Charlie Winfield. The usual suspects would be having a field day. Have a night off.

    Valid point.
    However, may be our coaching team think that Winfield (in this case) is not as ready as the lad from Burnley. Poss Winfield ouls go to a L2 team and come back a better player.
    If these type of exchanges move us forward I'm all for it.
    Proof of the pudding of course.
    Will have to agree to disagree re your FU to the Academy comment.

    Winfield is injured apparently anyway so he can't play while he's injured.

    This lad can be back up till he's back and then Winfield could get a loan to get games and develop from there.

    Or this lad is better than Winfield now and can help him develop this season in U23s before Winfield steps up next season.

    It's not really a situation that warrants any complaints really. It's just a signing to offer some cover.

    24 hours later and we’ve brought in a LWB so like I said earlier I wouldn’t be surprised if Styles is off somewhere.

    For all we know this could be a loan with a buy option - he's not going to get a look in at Burnley with them buying Maatsen. Let's not forget that our only senior LWB (assuming Styles is off) Cadden is out of contract next Summer and our own youngster has a long history of injuries. Can't see a problem with this, assuming he's any good!

    Happy with this, provides cover at LWB should Cadden get injured or suspended, & it’s always a bonus to have healthy competition if Caddens form takes a dip.
