Phillips, cadden were also good signings but alot of that's down to the recruitment team, and coles okay at this level joint top scorer now

It’s probably a little too critical given the disarray that the previous 2 managers left us in but a L1 squad that has 3 centre halves that sell for 10 million quid. Two goalies that get sold to championship clubs. 2 million quid midfielders plus Connell and probably the best 2 wing backs in the league has to finish top 6 so he achieved minimum expectations.

our weakness was up front and I think he did the best he could with what he’s got. Now we have a very significantly weaker side.

Said it before a more prolific strike force than the 4 we had and we go up automatically.

Yes I’d say we had the weakest strikers in the top 6 and we have got worse since then.

I'd say your right I'd fans Cole to equal or better his 15 from last season. I was critical of Norwood only getting 11 but I don't see which other striker will equal or better that tally based on the 1st 5 games.

Didn’t you say that Rotherham couldn’t match our bid that was rejected but then when we finally went back with an offer towards the end of the window they then did. I would say that was us dithering.

How have we dithered if all Rotherham ever did was match an offer we made that was accepted?

We made an offer, it was accepted. Rotherham matched it, he spoke to both clubs, he chose a the club in the higher division managed by someone who he knew.

Can you reiterate your point as I'd be surprised if I'm the only one who isn't getting it.

It’s the time in between those bids I’m asking about? You said the initial offer we made was rejected but we had been after him all summer?

Then we offered one that Rotherham matched this past week?

Firstly, I never said in the past week.

I said we'd been after him all summer. We made an offer, it was rejected. I don't know how many more we made before we made an offer that was accepted. I don't want us to pay over the odds and jump straight in with an offer that is too much.

But we did meet Exeter's value, whether that was the second offer or further down the line, I don't know. Another club did too. He spoke to us, but chose the alternative, for what I believe are obvious reasons. Make a thing of that if you wish, but clearly, there isn't one.

Just think it’s our ponderous nature that led to us missing out. If we had gone back in straight away and got it done as ultimately we haven’t secured his replacement (subject to change this evening of course )

Or we could have just kept Norwood till the end of this season, but that was too difficult too.

It's all speculation, of course. The only facts are that despite raising almost 8 figures of transfer income, and the vast majority of the playing squad who got us to Wembley departing the club, we have failed to secure a single player for more than a nominal sum through the whole window.

But we’ve made a few bids to make it look like we were trying. Credit where it’s due…..

Yeeeeeeerrrrr, never mind eh. They tried. We've got some long shots and desperation plays from the 5th to 7th tiers though eh? Well done Khaled.

It's not as bleak as that, but you're not a million miles off in my opinion.

Is that right? Williams, Cadden, Kane, Phillips, Connell and Cole are still here. That's six of the starters at Wembley. And we've got Watters back who came on as a sub. And we've still got Benson and Russell who came on as subs. Is that really the 'vast majority' leaving? Also, I'd argue the keeper we've signed is better than either of the two that departed, which, in my opinion, was a situation created by the manager who pretty much f'ed us over.

Is that also right? How much did we pay for Watters or the guy from France?

I've no problem here mate, but I'm not sure how helpful it is to state things as fact when, after researching it, isn't actually true.

Losing 5 out of 11 starters is a big blow however we sugarcoat it.

3.5m for Anderson and 5m for Kitching.

They should be able to buy a permanent fan zone now....

Or the player dragged it out as he wanted Rotherham to come back in, could be whole number of scenarios

I don’t think he’s a difference maker. Weakest of our back 5 from last season in my opinion. I can’t see how we can turn that kind of money down for him.

I think it’s best move for all parties that Kitching leaves. We get a great transfer fee & he gets to work with a manager that should be able to improve his weaknesses. We all know Kitching’s good on the ball & you can’t fault his effort so it’s his positioning & decision making that need working on & I can’t think of a better manager outside the premier league at organising a defence.

I got some stick for saying it the other week but I think he’s better off away from Barnsley as well. Whether people like it or not there has been rumours about him on social media. Go to Coventry, get away from Barnsley town centre on a Saturday night & concentrate on your football. Fulfil your talent.

I also don’t think he’s the leader type so I think his value would only drop staying here. I see him as been the David Luiz type who needs a steady player like Thiago Silva or John Terry alongside him, I don’t think Kitching has it in him to be that steady, reliable player who organises a defence. He struggles to control his own temperament most games.
