Glad we didn't lose you can only beat what's in front of you. This team are still to get used to each other and Kitching has gone,we've WON away again - ENJOY!
Wins will breed confidence, at this stage of the season the quality of the performance can take a back seat. Once the team gels and they believe in themselves and their team mates we'll be a force in League 1 this season.
Second successive away victory. Second successive clean sheet away from home (damn these 'non league donkeys'! ). Excellent goal from Watters, pereft response to Cosgrove's signing and will certainly not harm his self confidence. We didn't play anywhere near our best, but I don't care. With some quality players still to come into the team, I'm going to enjoy this win.
We did hit the post twice as well as score twice. Kane was good. Watters was much better than normal. Keeper is acrobatic and reliable. Cole given a chance to do what he's good at. We had that extra bit of class. Well done reds and thanks to all who went to support us.
The standard of league one is really poor and if we don't get promoted it will feel a bigger let down than last season and huge opportunity missed, as next season this league will be much tougher. That said we have the top scorer in the league, back to back clean sheets and are only three points off the top. At this stage with lots of new players getting used to this level and lots of new team mates to gel with, we would have taken our current position surely.
Cheltenham can feel very disappointed to lose that one 2-0. That's what happens when they fail to make any of the many chances count though. Solid from our defence. Wing backs looked dangerous, especially Cotter. Cole and McAtee doing really well up front. But our central midfield looked clueless, giving the ball away time after time, getting completely over-run, not protecting the defence at all. Something is broken. Easy to say it is Connell missing but Russell, Kane and Phillips should be better than they are. Still, three points I guess.
Good for you , enjoy your Saturday night watching re runs of Parkinson in your slippers old bean. And try a little tipple of ginger beer with a digestive.
my cheltenham season ticket holder bro in law says that russell was our best player. dominated and controlled midfield according to him.
Three great reflex saves from Liam Roberts kept us in it. First 30 mins we were under some pressure, but gradually took control, and an improved second half. Good to see Collins have confidence in putting on Marsh, de Gevigney, Chapman at a critical stage.
