In the build up to last week's win, the vast majority of the predictions against the in-form team were not just claiming a Barnsley defeat, but an absolute hammering. That went up quite a few notches when Shepherd was selected and Kitching wasn't. After all, the previous week, Wigan had won 4-0 away at Bolton, a couple of weeks after beating Derby away, too.
Think they all did alright but it certainly helps having Roberts behind them. Early days but that lads up there with the best shot stopper's we've had in a long time.
I thought some of the marking looked a bit slack, but that’s probably to be expected until they gain a proper understanding.
The more they play together the better they will become, I think we've found a couple of good young lads .Loved the run by Shepherd down the wing
Think the French lad needs to be brought on slowly.Launching in today in the first five of his miniutes.I get that he is eager and wants to impress but needs an arm around him.
It's a difficult one though isn't it. Out of contract in the summer and we've got him till then anyway. Could be another Isted situation though.
All depends if he's interested in signing perm on a long contract or whether he'd prefer to wait until the summer and move on a free. I think it'd be difficult to persuade him to sign permanently unless we put a modest release clause in his contract for example. Just my thoughts. No harm in sounding it though.
Hopefully, we'll be talking to him throughout the season, and the money we'll save on a transfer fee, we could give him as a signing on bonus. Of course, that would be moot if a club in the championship came in for him (unless we go up)
