In the first half today our back 3 and the 2 wingbacks were indebted to Roberts for not being 2 or 3 down. Time and time again Cheltenham had space down the flanks and put balls in that our centre halves failed to deal with, which is what I witnessed in the only other game I've been to this season (Posh)

However...they were much improved in the second half, kept another clean sheet and as has been said, two of them are brand new and all of them are young and getting used to a new manager and system. I really, really want them to do well and keep improving, especially Shepherd who's been thrown in from about step 8 of the pyramid.

Anyone calling them donkeys is an idiot, but there's definitely room for improvement and there'll have to be if we're going to push for the top 6 this season. I'm chuffed to bits with the result today though and a cracking day out

Problem is, the attitude of calling them donkeys, getting on their backs, being negative etc all has a knock on effect to confidence.

I'm pretty sure any good manager or coach would not not go down that route, they need to grow their players and they need tie to do so.

I watched Lopata a few times last season in the national league on BT sports. I thought was very good si was quite happy to see him come to us. I think we have good orisoect on our abds.

But what's going to happen next, if they do turn out well like they are suggesting that they might do ?.
Thats the disappointing thing under this lot, just sell them on for a profit next season, and bring another lower league player in as a replacement.
Then eventually if he does well, sell him on for a profit the following season, and repeat again and again and again. Its disheartening and I wish there was some other way than this. :(

I never saw this thread but I’ve just wrote the same regarding Jack Shepherd. I was worried regarding these non league signings but there’s something really satisfying seeing a kid who was playing football part time thrown in the deep end and coming up trumps.
    Delighted for him.

Same as 99% of other clubs mate. Reason Coventry managed to get all their signings is because they had to sell their best 2 players in Hamer & Gykores (spelling). At least with this board we seemingly get good fees, 3+ for Andersen on a 1 year contract & 5 million for Kitching is great business.

Somehow I missed that quality comedy thread about burros lol, they really don't write them like that anymore do they.

Frog, I know that of course but I hate it, and I wish there was some other way for us to run this club.
I think its great as well if lads from the lower leagues can come here and hit the ground running, playing with a bit of confidence and energy that that their youth gives them.
But when we start to think that we're onto something here, and that they might have a promising future with us... well you know what happens next and its back to square one every time. :(

They throw insults at players they've not seen because they're whining little thumbsuckers

a great start for both long may it continue, what I like is if there are problems at the back they just boot the ball out instead of messing about with it causing more problems or even conceding also the sunday league style tackling not being bothered about a booking not seen a defender like that for a long time

just to add re non league did anybody complain about mick butler from worsborough scoring goals for fun back in the day or martin bullock from eastwood town causing chaos in midfield, probably not and I know social media wasnt about but the verbal way of pulling them apart was about then .. just a comparison really to somes criticism of lopata and shepherd
