Very raw, and has a lot to learn at this level but I really, really like this lad. As much as I’ve been bemused about signing non league players over the summer, there’s also something really satisfying when you uncover one that breaks into the first team and takes his chance by the scruff of the neck. I certainly think we’re a better side with him in it, than we are with him out of it. Was a plumber wasn’t he before signing for us? Brilliant that. Apologies, just seen the other post.
I’m chuffed to bits for him. He lived round the corner from us, and went to the same school as my kids. His brother played for Penistone Church. I think he was a kitchen fitter. He’s done incredibly well. Wouldn’t surprise me at all if the route into football from non- league becomes more of a thing in general. It’s a fine line in terms of ability between those playing for clubs’ academy sides and those in non league.
I love the fact he's worked for a living too - understands what it's all about, and not played football for a super rich football club since he was a kid.
If Jack’s still got his joinery tools, he could lend them to Iseka and get him on with fixing handrails etc. May as well make him earn his wage
Are his boots Mitre, mate?? (Possibly only joiners or kitchen fitters will get that terribly poor joke)
Didn’t see the game but two clean sheets is a dream start for the lad .How did McAtee play on his first start for us ?
Cheers for that i think when you add Cosgrove into the mix then our forwards have a little bit of everything which is what you need in this league.
Think when he did that run up the left wing you could see the confidence ooozing.. He's playing better than Kitching did when he first came in... but lets no get too carried away just yet. As a back three they still dont look too comfortable when under pressure.. If it wasn't for Roberts again earning his money keeping a clean sheet against a team who haven't even scored yet, Cheltenham could have had a couple of goals first half.. . Lets see how the boys do against the better sides.. Pompey Bolton Derby and the likes.. But when all are fit, i'd be surprised if current back 3 of Williams Lapata and Shepard.. were first choice.. If we can sort the back line out with what we already have.. i see top two, no problem, if we still cant get it right, which we will all be able to see, then strengthen in Jan..
