Are all of the Ladies fixtures on the main pitch going forward then? Or is it just as/when they can? Was a good day tbf. It’s a big pitch at Oakwell when you play on it, and with that heat, as well as having 2,150 fans watch you, it’s somewhat nerve wracking too. I presume if we get similar backing for the home games, it’ll make us THE place to come for away teams?
No programme, no match report on the official site - poor. And to add to that the abysmally poor comms regarding ticketing and car parking. Must do better BFC. On the other hand, to be fair I thought the day itself and the occasion went very well. It was good to hear Timerider followed by the walkon music which according to Julie Ann was chosen by the girls themselves. And my 5 year old granddaughter, on her first visit to Oakwell for a match, was awestruck to meet Toby!
Under the circumstances, I know it really doesn't matter, but it was nice to hear Timerider for them.
Oh and just another point on comms - great to see the Women's squad, with photos, on the official site - but where are the fixtures/results?
Went yesterday, thought it was a great afternoon, surprised they weren't given the statutory water breaks due to the heat. Hope the girl that went down in the first half is ok, she seemed in pain. I enjoyed the game, could see Alnwick were the better team and our team gave it a good go, I thought there were some stand out players and some that looked like they are fairly new to this level but with coaching and determination they will be alright, Only left early due to the searing heat and this was after the second goal with 5 mins left
That's a shame, hope she makes a full recovery. Could see it was a nasty one from the off, I must say I was a bit concerned to see them walk her off the pitch rather than carry or stretcher her.
I just watched the highlights on iFollow. I didn't think it was fair that we allowed one of the opposition to play in our goal. (Bit of a color clash )
I was surprised the ref didn't pick that up and make her change - but then I remembered the level we were at, and some of the referees I've seen at the lower levels of mens' football! That's something else a lot of people will find hard to get used to
I haven't got used to the incompetency and inconsistency of the referees and their VAR counterparts at World Cup level, so I'm not surprised.
Doesn't answer why they're not on the club website, but if you want to know the fixtures and results they're available here: North East Regional Womens Football League (thefa.com)
What is an Away Walkover ? Farsley vs Bradford (on the link above) EDIT: Wiki to the rescue A walkover, also W.O. or w/o (originally two words: "walk over") is awarded to the opposing team/player etc, if there are no other players available, or they have been disqualified, because the other contestants have forfeited or the other contestants have withdrawn from the contest. Further Edit. More Googling later Walkovers – If a team incurs a walkover they will be deducted three points and their opposition awarded a 3-0 victory.
