I bought a new Acer XC-840 Computer 12 months ago which came with an Acer LCD monitor K242HYL.

I have an intermittent problem which occurs every few days.

The monitor stays on but the screen goes blank.

I have to reboot when ever it happens. No error codes or anything.

Any sensible suggestions would be welcome.

This might be complete rubbish, but could it be some kind of timer setting, that puts the screen into sleep mode after a set length of time? Or summat.

Do you have access to another monitor? If so try that this migt narrow down the fault at least.

Try updating your graphics card and make sure there isn't an "eco mode" on your monitor...

What do you mean by monitor stays on? Is it a black screen but the monitor is fully on? Or is the monitor in standby mode ("on" light changes colour/flashes/dims+glows).

It sounds like your computer and monitor have gone into suspend mode to me - changeable in Power settings.

Maybe a graphics driver problem. Have you tried reinstalling the latest drivers for your graphics card? Next time it happens, see if pressing Windows Key+Ctrl+Shift+B all together gets it working again. This will restart the graphics driver. (You should hear a beep if yo've done the key combination right)
