    Barnsley vs Tranmere in the EFL cup
    Barnsley vs Grimsby in the EFL Trophy

    Arguably a stronger team played against Tranmere with the exception of the forwards, although we still scored two.

    Can we see improvement in terms of the system/tactics?

    I'll make a judgement after 10 league games. Not counting Cup games personally. Tbh I'm still not entirely clear what his system is, but that probably says more about me than him.

    Not taking anything from the cup games, and I’ve not seen enough of the away league games.

    The home league games have been two dreadful performances and an absolute freak 7-0 result against a team who are unbeaten since and sit above us in the table - I need to see another two or three home games with a settled side and setup.

    I was more thinking about the strength in depth. It’s nothing to do with the league appearances.

    I can't get my head around how easy it seems for teams to cut through our midfield but like you say it's early days and should only improve. At least we're picking points up along the way.
