Derek Parker would be near the top marvelled player.

David currie in his 1st spell highly skilled operator.

it's a fair list that though if Taylor is No 1(which is fine) then it's a bit odd not to consider Hine and McCormack. Presumably Hamell is not considered to be a striker.

    Definitely.

It's almost as though he picked the last few guys to finish as top scorer over the season and then figured he needed to add a couple of historic names too.

No Shipperley, Rammell, Payton, Liddell, Fjortoft.

Who could argue with Tommy Taylor, the days when you could touch a striker.

Far too many players in the OP survey from our "recent" past.
Can never be objective even though TT is number one. My Dad and Grandad always spoke about McCormack and TT.
Best of what I`ve seen was probably Ward but my favourites were Brian Joicey and Big Stan.

I would never claim he was the best, but my early favourite was Trevor Aylott.

Should just have said over the last 30/40 years. Cant have Taylor in there but miss all our other historical players. I get that Taylor is well known but its hardly fair on 'em!

All the greats have been mentioned - always thought Wayne Biggins was underrated - great back to the goal striker, bringing people into play and 16/47 not a bad return for second string striker

Anyone putting Ward 5th didn’t see him play. Outrageously good.

Unplayable at times, even in the premiership.
We’d have probably stayed up if we’d signed Ward and Jan Age for the start of the season.
Currie could do things with a football that others could only dream of back then.

    In my time I’d say
    Ward
    Fjortoft
    Geddis
    Currie
Hirst (only because he wasn’t around long enough)

The great Tom Finney said while Jimmy Baxter played for PNE in the 50s, that he was the best player he ever played with..

High praise indeed.. So id like to add Jimmy Baxter.

Can’t really argue with the quality in that list but Mick Butler, Brian Joicey, David Geddis and Sam Winnall are others that could be included. Derrick Parker was class too.
