When you have players like Bellingham, Foden, and Maddison at your disposal, but you shoe-in Henderson, you absolutely deserve to take some grief.

Euro's next summer will be do or die for Southgate, he'd be a fool to not go for it.

    Jesus Christ.

Herbie Kane could replace a champions league & premier league winning captain.

    Delusional.

He might have played Tomori if Stones was available but I don’t think he would have played two relative ‘newbies’ together in Guehi & Tomori. Would be a bit silly. You maybe could against terrible opposition but not in what’s probably our second toughest game in the group.

Why? He played Trent in midfield last time round. I think he would’ve played Trent with Rice & Bellingham.

He might still have picked Maguire but that’s more down to a lack of competition. We only have one top class centre back in Stones.

But he's had the chance to do that before, against poorer sides & meaningless games - but he hasn't. People say they've no experience, but how are they supposed to experience international football when they don't even get picked in meaningless games. When Toney got called up the first time, pointless, he didn't even play a minute.

Ward-Prowse typically plays deeper than Henderson.

Henderson is predominantly a box to box midfielder & always has been at club level.

The only times he’s really played as a holding midfielder were for England before the emergence of Rice & Phillips & sometimes at Liverpool if Fabinho was injured.

It's not who he picks. It's how he plays them. Like Man City on Mogadon.

Harry Kane had to go back to midfield , thinking "bugger this I'm redundant as a forward, I'll go and sort this out" in order for us to score.

That was Henderson of years gone by. If you think he's the same player now I think its you that's deluded

He’s had a look at Toney & obviously prefers Callum Wilson. Rashford’s also a regular in the squad & he only plays one central striker so there’s no real reason to keep picking & blooding strikers for the sake of it when they’re all playing back up to Kane who’s rarely injured. You only get a limited amount of games & training sessions a year.

I don’t get where this idea comes from that Southgate doesn’t blood kids. I’ve never known an English manager blood as many young players. If he thinks they’re up to it they play.

James, Tomori, Gomez, White, Mount, Trent, Guehi, Abraham, Foden, Saka, Rashford, Gallagher, Rice, Bellingham, Calvert-Lewin, Sancho, Loftus-Cheek off the top of my head are all players he’s called up & used whilst been teenagers or very close to it.

Even players he used to get stick for picking like Mount & Sterling have been dropped.

I’ve no doubt that if we had depth in central midfield & centre back that chances for Maguire & Henderson would be limited but we haven’t got the depth in them positions that we have in others.

I’m not Southgate’s biggest fan & I think his subs are often the wrong player or too late but I think he generally picks fair squads & pretty fair teams.

But that’s not a Southgate thing is it? Kane’s done that his whole Spurs career.

He’s not at his peak but is he a better option than Phillips who never plays? I’d argue yes. Who else is there? About the best name anyone can come up with is Ward-Prowse, a mid-table player.

Very brave of her to speak her mind and she is of course 100% correct.

I wouldn't be picking Henderson on the basis that, as well as not being as good as some of the players overlooked, he is playing in a Mickey Mouse league, despite the billions thrown at a few mercenaries, it's a sports washing exhibition league.

Exactly. Not a Southgate thing. That's why we scored.

Under Southgates system you may be right but I think everyone gets annoyed with his ultra defensive set up. Does he need both Rice and Henderson doing similar jobs? With players like Foden, Grealish, Rice, Bellingham, Madison, Trent, Gallagher wouldn't he be better off going for it? It's this defensive mentality that frustrates us as fans.

Saka, Foden, Keane, Watkins, Maitland-Niles, Hudson-Odoi, Smith-Rowe, Godfrey, Walker-Peters, Mitchell, Solanke, Chalobah, Greenwood, Barnes, Cook, Justin.

More examples of young players who’ve played for England under Southgate.

That’s without even considering players like Bamford, Phillips, Maddison, Lingard, Toney, Grealish etc who I’d consider more late developers.

I can’t imagine there’s an England manager in history who’s blooded so many young players. I’d argue he gives too many caps out. For me you want a more settled team & squad.
