Close ending. Had the Fiji guy held on to the ball and went on to score a try at the end……could have all been so different.
Well done Wales for the win

Fiji were robbed definitely, the number of persistent offences Wales got away without out being yellow carded was unreal... three times in the last 20 mins the ref warned the Wales captain that the next one is in the bin, goes up the other end and a Fijian gets one for a first offence.

No better than EFL refs and equally as bad when it comes to being biased towards the bigger teams.

I wouldn't accuse him of either of those things, but between him and the TMO he got what proved to be the most important things wrong.. Tbf to Rugby refs they have to look for hundreds of technical offences, EFL refs have very little to consider by comparison... most footy refs training consists of developing an individual style when handing cards out.

    Wrong!
Check World Club rankings and you'll see that Fiji are above Cymru -

I know we’re used to incompetency from English Officials but that tonight took it to a new extreme. He was shocking. Surely a job in football at League one level awaits.

I tend to agree, even when I played the rules changed for every new season, by the end of the season you had just got used to them.
Now I think they're in danger of disappearing up their own rectums... particularly in view of the issue of head clashes, whether accidental or not it seems that the sole agenda is to find a cause and apportion blame to the tackling player.
I read an article on the Curry incident on RugbyPass.... they get the opinion of a referee.. in this case English referee Paul Smith, it seems the establishment wants to see its TMO's vindicated... Smith stated in that, that Curry was upright, and that was a factor that counted against him.. that to me means a 6 foot plus player stood at his full height, yet the photo of the incident clearly shows Curry has both legs bent and other than the player coming down in to him after the catch he is the lowest player in the incident. He has a wrap with both arms and is only intending to tackle fairly. Screenshot_20230911_011315.jpg

At first I thought what's John Stones doing there, tackling the player with the ball (he looks a little bit like him!).
Come on Stonesy kid lol, are you not earning enough dosh at Man City!.

Above you (and England, Australia) in the rankings - but not a historically big rugby nation. Don’t be pedantic. You know what he meant.

And you had the rub of the green on decisions all evening. Surely you can concede that?

Well done on roughing out an impressive win, but you were very, very fortunate in my view. How Wales kept fifteen on the field as long as they did, after three or four ‘last’ warnings, is quite baffling given Fiji had one in the bin for a first offence with no warning. Inconsistent refereeing and in my view it showed bias, probably subconscious rather than intentional. But still.

When I saw Fiji turn England over at Twickenham the other week I was impressed by them, as poor and England were, and predicted they’d give Wales a game.

It was a great match, wales should be proud of a good win, but let’s not pretend there wasn’t a huge slice of luck involved.

Wales will bring many more fans to games so who do the authorities wish to see progress. Some appalling ref decisions imho and all seemed to go in favour of Wales

is there some some good old anti-Cymru sentiment here?
My fellow Yorkshiremen, you should be delighted at the success of your neighbouring Home Nation!

Troff see #4 - we were very lucky and undoubtedly had the rub of the green - I don't deny that - and agree with much of what you say in your post.

    Some statistics
    Tackles Fiji 70 - Cymru 248
Carries Fiji 713 yds - Cymru 413 yards
    Runs Fiji 174 - Cymru 81
    Rucks won 130 - Cymru 40

Yellow carding Tagitagivalu was harsh - Domachowski not so harsh.

What cost Fiji the match was a couple of failed final touches - the late disallowed try - the drop by Radradra at the end.
    Fiji undoubtedly unlucky.

DR - as for the notion that the ref was biased in favour of the team that brings most supporters because that is what the authorities want - absolute rubbish - all matches are sold-out - authorities are not concerned if it's Fijian or Welsh ar**s on those seats.

Rugby Authorities finally responding to the problem of head injuries sustained by rugby players. There are hundreds of players affected - some taking legal action against the Rugby Authorities.
Although the rues haven't changed clearly refs are instructed to come down hard on any head to head contact.

moving on - Latvia v Cymru (Euros) 7.45 tonight.

And two clear no arms tackles to deny a try.

Not a great night for the ref/TMO.

Ref's had a lot of stick but not awarding the try as you say was the decision of the TMO team. I think the ref initially was going to award this try??

The Welsh were absolutely magnificent in defence, the Fiji attack weren't quite up to it.

Some of our fans might be pleased for your team, but why 'should' we be, as you suggest we should ?.
When was the last time any of your lot were pleased or delighted with England doing well in sport ?.

I can only speak for myself - can't speak for 'my lot' (strange terminology) but hey ho !

To answer your question -- I was delighted with the success of the England Women's Football Team at the Euros and also how well they did at the recent World Championships.
