    Tad confused!
    - there are two teams - are they both affiliated to BFC - is there a link between both teams - what leagues do they play in - separate managers - use of Club facilities - why do some women opt for one team not the other - do they get paid ?

And one for Gally - should we have a board exclusively for Women's Football on this site ?

Only one is affiliated to BFC.

Barnsley Women play in National League Division One North which is the 4th tier (it is regional at that level). They play their home games in Sheffield. They are not affiliated to Barnsley FC.

Barnsley FC Ladies are affiliated to BFC. They use the clubs facilities. They play at a lower level of the pyramid (i dunno what tier it is, sorry)

Only Barnsley ladies are affiliated to BFC.
    Play in 7th tier
Barnsley women have had 2 applications for a stadium to be built in the Barnsley area. Play/played at wombwell. Now in Sheffield I believe, but will stand corrected. Play in the 4th tier.

Bit of history. According to wiki.

A women's football club connected to Barnsley F.C. had run since the 1980s, but severed ties with the men's team in 2018 to become Barnsley W.F.C. The new Barnsley F.C. Ladies was formed in 2020, and were promoted from the Sheffield & Hallamshire Women's Football League at the end of their first season.

Barnsley FC Ladies play in the 5th tier, having been promoted from Tier 6 last season.
According to JAQ clubs are not allowed to pay players at this level, and she made the point that to progress through the leagues the first step will probably be the hardest - in terms of being able to recruit unpaid players capable of winning promotion to what I believe would be a semi professional level.
