What DIY tool should everyone have?

I seem to be constantly taking down and putting back up shelves, mirrors, pictures and blinds dont know why wife has to keep changing. My house can be only now be built of red rawl plugs and filler.
So electric battery drill with good pozi drive bit is essential and I need to get a spirit level maybe less changes then.

 

Swiss army knife with belt holder, use it 10 times a day. Electricians screwdriver. Stanley knife w retractable blade. PZ2 bits & rechargable screwdriver. Junior hacksaw. Good toolbox/bag. Insulated pliers normal and narrow nose. Vice. Decent saw (car boots good for old British ones). Claw hammer. Mallet. Chisel. Files, flat and round. Water pump pliers. Rechargable -lithium- drill/driver. Ruler, tape measure.

 

Fleshlight. Definitely the best tool for all those DIY moments.

Don't look it up on a work computer. Or in public. Or anywhere where your other half might see it...

 

Impact driver - i like the DeWallt XR stuff - one battery for all the tools.
and then a Combi to cover drilling too. Screwfix sell this on offer a lot as a double pack.
Then the XR circular saw.

Prob the tools I use most for general DIY stuff that are not too expensive and you'll get plenty of use out of. I also got rid of the petrol garden tools like strimmer and hedge trimmer for the XRs to use the same batteries. Not missed a beat - quality stuff.

 

When it comes to multimeters size matters.

One of the best things I ever bought was a Graco Airless Spray, you just put the down tube of the machine into a big tub of paint and spray neat emulsion, or masonry paint. Although it's time consuming masking and covering everything you can paint a 2 up 2 down house, including ceilings in a day. They are pretty expensive new but I got mine from a retiring painter for £40, although it did have a minor fault that cost me another 60 quid.

 

Cordless electric screwdriver makes things so much easier and saves lots of time.
No would have said makes screwing so much easier but SD’s about!

 

I’m not overly keen on DIY, but last year I bought a twin set consisting of Dewalt XR Combi drill and impact driver. Came in the big T-stak box along with 3 x 3.0ah batteries and charger. The times that I’ve used them, they’re an excellent piece of kit. Hopefully moving forward, I can add bare units to the collection.

 

Combi drill, tape measure, hammer, spirt level. Set of spanners and screwdrivers. A handsaw and a 14 tonne 360 JCB

 

Got an Apollo version of this that I use on fences, can do whole back garden in less than a day and fraction of paint.

 

I'm a gas engineer so I'd say pump pliers use them for everything knipex are the best

 

I’m going to add a spark plug socket, a metal file and vice grips (for when you shear one of the old bolts and need to get it out).

I was looking forward to the multimeter getting another run out but one look at the spark plugs and it was obvious they needed changing. Feeling pretty pleased, spark plugs changed, air filter changed and MAF sensor cleaned in around 30 minutes. We always do our own car stuff but I’m normally not strong enough to do it all without some help from Will but no upper body strength was needed for this job.
