Yeah and I don't know why the ref allowed it, and where was the pub Var as well. His domino piece was miles offside.
Having watched Scotland try and play football over the years,I can see why they might want to make dominoes their national game
The only National Anthems I'd consider booing are the Russian one in view of Ukraine and ours. I don't like ours because its a monarchist dirge and promotes hate (the Scottish bit) and I really don't get how it can be both British and English at the same time. I would much prefer "Land of Hope and Glory" or maybe "God save the Queen" by the Sex Pistols.
Said it before with all the songwriting talent we have in this Country, the Govt should commission someone or some people to write a new one that fully represents our society, oh and a nice upbeat tune wouldn’t go amiss. Then we can all sing it with the same pride and enthusiasm that we see and hear from other countries
Good question, but in this instance, I think the managers half time team talk resulted in an England team going out for the second half and ASKING for the problems they got.
Imo no matter what our national anthem was it wouldn't be sang with the same pride and gusto the other home nations teams sing it.
Flower of Scotland belted out in a full hampden really is something special. I was there for the 2-2 draw when that little drunk ugly kid scored two worldy free kicks. Best atmosphere I’ve ever heard.
Daresay a good percentage of folk attending are republicans. I've been to several internationals and Wembley finals and would never join in. Feel I have to stand though, just in case a royalist nutter is in close proximity. Strongly believe national anthems have no place at sporting events
Totally agree about national anthem singing. Ours is so out of kilter with society. First it was written in the mid 1740s as a rallying cry against the Jacobites and was thus pro-Georgian/Hanoverian and anti-Scot. Secondly, because it simply promotes the idea of support for the monarch its flawed on that level too. Its outdated, irrelevant to millions, racist and, from a personal point of view, I think its quite dull and uninspiring as a tune.
I'll have you know. I have won the 5s and 3s Hoyland pub league knockout doubles on 2 occasions. Sadly my partner passed on. I reckon we'd have won more. Got the medals to prove it.
Good point, so here is a match report. Scotland chased and snarled like rabid dogs trying to impress their hostile, frothing at the mouth fans (it was only a friendly). However they had no shots on target and created very little resulting in Harry Maguire feeling sorry for them and scoring an own goal. England played a possession based passing game and controlled 80% of the game, they scored 3 goals whilst maintaining a calmness which was most impressive. Result - Scotland 1 England 3.
