You can only play with the hand you’ve been dealt and Dunk looked good last night - a good test would be the Italians who I think are coming up soon. He deserves the chance.

Yes, course he does. One that slipped through the net for England.

Not sure what Tomari has to do to get a chance TBH.
Consistently good for Milan over last 3 1/2 years

He needs to make Southgate a big pizza pie.

Yes, definitely. With regards to Pinnock, I was just checking his stats and I'm not sure he's played a competitive match for them.

Manager picks players to suit his style & group dynamic shocker.

Never let this team or this manager down, that's why he's still in the team.

Its the consistency that frustrates me. Stones had a period of ‘average’ performance - dropped from squad. Some others like Henderson and Maguire are picked irrespective of their performance, league or playing time. This was a game to test other players and we still revert to what we know. I dont support the full on negativity to Maguire but it is clear he gets favourable treatment over others.

If not Southgate should be on the phone to him, he would be class as the left sided centreback alongside Stones.

I do agree that it seems the in thing to have a go at Maguire and for me he's never let England down . What I don't understand is why when he had chance to leave United he didn't his time there is clearly up just get out and play somewhere your wanted,is it the money if so why he must be a very rich young man already just go and play Harry lad.

The guy has been under pressure due to various **** ups at club level, he's not been playing so he can't be match fit, seems crazy not to mention cruel to me to stick the guy in at international level in that condition, ( look what happened), let the guy find a new club get playing regularly then come back to him maybe.

Yep, forgot about that. However, he appears not to have played a competitive match. Could we still bag him?

Harry Kane would have been proud of that goal Maguire scored last night.

He played in the CONCACAF nations league last Saturday and today.

But to be honest, it’s a bit of a push to suggest a thirty year old with a sum total of 66 top league appearances, despite our affection for him, is a better bet than Harry Maguire; who despite being frozen out at Man Utd by the latest manager, has had a fantastic career, has made very few errors in an England shirt (you’d argue less than John Stones himself has), and even last night - the own goal was more unfortunate than poor - when he came on he was very cool and calm on the ball and didn’t give it away once under pressure from their players and bile from the crowd. I particularly liked the Scots ‘Harry Maguire, you’re still ******* ****’ song. Their starting centre backs play for Watford, Al Ettifaq, and the third one isn’t even a centre back, he plays full back at real sociedad as he couldn’t get in the arsenal team. Yeah, Harry Maguire would definitely struggle to get in the Scotland team…

He’s no Bobby Moore ok, but the vitriol he gets and in particular the suggestion he’s useless is massively wide of the mark. It’s a bit pathetic to be honest.

I just wish he’d signed for West Ham. He’d be playing every week, probably looking pretty good and the same people saying he’s useless would likely be lording him for his renaissance.

I don’t know why Southgate doesn’t select Tomori, but with Stones injured I can’t see how anyone would expect him not to pick Maguire. We can’t go into the next qualifiers and the tournament next year relying only on people like Lewis Dunk and Marc Guehi.
