Good, workmanlike performance today after the disruptive international break. Thought Burton were way too passive and couldn’t believe they didn’t press Russell who looked like he had all day on the ball.

No new injuries and a strong bench, hopefully we can go on a good run now.

A lot of this sounds a bit harsh to me, because we've easily beat a poor team and it should have been more than 2.
I'm also not getting too carried away over a win against a poor Burton team of course, but credit to us where it's deserved ehh. :)

He was up against Caprice who was by far their best player. His shoulder barge that sent Cotter flying in the first half down by the corner flag was an old school challenge.

Said at half time that he was their best player, had Cotter in the pocket for the majority of the half.

Not sure if it was just fresh legs against tired ones but O’Keeffe faired much better against him.

Do you not think that part of the reason O'Keefe did so well was because Cotter had been wearing their left back down for the previous 65 minutes? Barry's end product wasn't quite up to his usual standard, though he did whip in a beautiful cross in the second half which their centre half did very well to clear. Other than that, their left back dealt with him well, but parrying a threat like Cotter, who has pace, skill, and the ability to hurt you if you give him an inch of space, is an energy-sapping business. The introduction of a slightly different player midway through the second half meant that we were well-placed to exploit that. Excellent management from Collins IMHO.

He may choose to do the same against Pompey, or he may decide that starting with the more defensively solid O'Keefe then introducing Cotter's pace later on is the way to go against a much stronger opponent than Burton. Either way, I'll be more than happy. We've got two very exciting options at right-back, both of whom bring different things when on the pitch. It's a great situation to be in.

Are you sure? I can't say I noticed her on the pitch. Screenshot_2023-09-17-06-56-43-760-edit_com.android.chrome.jpg

I thought O’Keefe and Phillips link up play was outstanding, they were able to pass it around 22. It seemed once Cotter couldn’t dribble passed him he was struggling to come up with a plan B.

I agree, they looked absolutely excellent together. But I still think that Cotter did a lot of hard work in softening them up down that side. In any case, we seem to have options all over the pitch now. It's great to see.
