Me too. but we offered him a rolling contract in February regardless and got compensation. Morais fekked up big style after the Birmingham game. Battered em and made several changes next game.

Those two points dropped at Hull would have kept us up. People forget we finished the season 6 unbeaten at home 3 wins, 3 draws.

I couldn't care less if he was set for life, I was being sarcy! lol.
I think Hecky totally lost the plot and lost interest, and should have gone long before he chose to go.

I honestly think there could have been some shenanigans. Bottom 3. Offered new contract and accepted. 4 days later leeds came knocking. Compo. o_O

I will stick up for him to begin with, because he/we was shafted in the Jan '17 window, and that was just appalling 'management' from above.
But it just fell apart for us all after that, and I think Hecky himself had eventually had enough.

I've said for years, just do what basketball does and count up the time the ball's not in play. Problem solved - the only ones to complain will be those who have timewasting as part of their game plan.

Just reduce the length of the game if this makes it ridiculous (which I suspect it would, to be fair).

The relegation wasn't just down to morais we went down by 1 point. Hecky made some awful decisions 1st half of the season, played various players out of position, overlooked and loaned out players who were better than what he was playing, spent the most every for a barnsley manager, and his football of 1 up top was awful. Can't just blame morais for that relegation.

Manager gets emotional and goes on a rant scandal.

Fair play to him. Folk want authenticity and he's got it in spades.

I now have. It's a very articulate and nuanced argument, which I'm surprised more people haven't agreed with.

Don't think I'd be far wrong in claiming the majority view on this forum is that referees don't do a very good job. Hecky adds a lot of weight to that argument.

I actually don't think referees do a bad job. I think they all make mistakes, like we all do, and we get the occasional stinker of a decision like the no handball away at Burton last season. We also have the odd ref who appears to have a howler from start to finish. But that's rare and in most games, it's my opinion that the referee makes far fewer mistakes than the players, and the decisions they are berated for, particularly by those watching from the stands, turn out, on closer inspection, to be correct. But some of the stuff Hecky said in that interview got me thinking more. He was making valid points with some substance to them.

I think it's pretty clear they don't lose that game if they defend better in the last 5 mins, and if they win he doesn't say what he does, but I do think it's a fair enough argument he's making.

You don't hear a manager on a rant if they win. (I used to be able to say that about fans too, but we appear to have a new breed who even had complaint when we won 7-0.) But the substance of the argument is valid win, lose or draw. He would have been better expressing it when he wasn't so emotional and without the repeated claim that they "haven't a clue" but then it wouldn't haven't made the headlines and no one outside a couple of thousand dedicated Blades fans who listen to behind pay-wall website interviews would have heard it.

I Didn't. I'm fully aware we were in bottom 3 when he left. But days b4 he was offered and took a contract extension. Bit weird at the time. Then the leeds move. (Must have seen summat in him) I thought at the time we had their pants down. But his life changed dramatically wages wise was just a point I was trying to make.
But the way Morais altering the side too often. Even after a win making out our players were tired. totally bemused me.
We took 13 points from 15 games during his tenure. Certainly didnt help.
Hecky was 24 pts from 29. both around the same points per game.
Paul Harsley Caretaker. took the other 2.

Let's not forget that Morais had Kieffer Moore & Oli McBurnie up top. We have that in August and we walk lower mid table.

The amount of context ppl choose to ignore is mind bending.

People still knock him for playing one up top when the other two options were Ugbo & Thiam. He literally had no choice.

There’s a lot of bitterness on this page today & yesterday. Hecky & Duff both did great for us, made us plenty of money & left us in a better state than when they joined. Just let it go & be happy & enjoy our win.

Hecky had Harvey Barnes. He played mowatt on the left wing when we got dicked away at Bristol 1st game then loaned him out. Chose Adam Jackson over ethan pinnock. Played tiny Tom and even Thiam as lone strikers. I could go on with his **** ups, no ones saying morais did a great job but hecky didn't cover himself in glory either, nor did he at Leeds or hibs after us.

He played one up top at Leeds and hibs after that, his intention was alway to play one up top hence why he signed so many midfielders pre season. I remember him telling radio Sheffield at the time he had watched ugbo for Chelseas 21s and believed he could make the step up.

It's not bitter to have the opinion that he wasn't the messiah some make him out to be. He made plenty of mistakes but before that did alot of good things.

And the number of chances they missed in games at the end of the season sent us down , Morais was a nutter but we create enough chances to stay up

Kieffer moores miss away at Elland Road was one of the worst I've ever seen.
