Okicim and Lech aren't bad. Cobra, Tiger too. Got to be ice cold though and with some spicy crisps.

Best mainstream one for me is Estrella Damm. Don't see them on tap often but Budvar or Estrella Galicia are lovely too.

Do you mean Hopfenperle?... if so, it was Swiss, I remember it from the late 70’s early 80's...I had a mate with a Hull Brewery pub near Eggborough... I'm not sure if it was imported or brewed in Hull under license but it was certainly one of only a very few nice lagers sold in the UK at the time. The Hull Brewery bitter was also very nice if you could find it handpulled.

The best lager I've ever had in Britain was Dortmunder Union Ziegel pils, I used to get it from a small off licence in Sheffield, it was superb stuff.. unfortunately the company was taken over by DAB (Dortmunder Aktien Brau... who brewed very average beer), it's local rival and closed down.

As posted on the other thread, Schiehallion.

There's also a fantastic Russian lager called Firefly, which is easily the best supermarket lager I've ever had. It's obviously not as mass produced as some others, as it's like rocking horse s**t in the summer!

My American friend told me that when they were at high school, him and his buddies would sneak around their neighbourhood on Friday night, checking to see if any garage doors were unlocked, as this was where most people stored their beer. Coors and Miller were deemed so bad that they never bothered taking it.

Some German lager already mentioned. Warsteiner is a nice bottled one and seems more readily available than some. However I'd always contemplate a genuine German one anyway as there's no unnecessary crap in - no preservatives, flavour enhancers etc.

Had Estrella Galicia in Menorca 2019 in a bar next to our all inclusive hotel, was a superb drink.
Not seen it since, was 3 Euros a pint but was worth it, had about 6 pints of the stuff before swaying back to hotel for the all inclusive crap.

I have to say though i like Tennents or Carling Premier
