Blaming the ref tonight is a little childish. We lost as our defending was Sunday league standard at best and it led to being 3-0 down after barely a quarter of an hour. I think it was a pen, I’m not convinced it was offside though the liner looked about five yards behind play all night and looked of an age that he ought to have packed in five years ago. But the second and third goals are absolutely criminal and that isn’t his doing, regardless of your view on the penalty.
The result of that game was predetermined. There's no way an official can make it to that level of the game and be that incompetent. They took an offside freekick 8 yards in our half ffs
And a free kick 20 yards outside the box after we'd had a penalty appeal (rightly) turned down. Also special.
Ignoring the offside I accept under modern laws it's probably a pen. My question is when did that change and what are keepers supposed to do nowadays? If you can't race out to put a striker off or narrow an angle because you may get to them after they have got their shot off what do you do? Stay on your line and let them knock it past you? Harsh on keepers.....
Because he didnt prevent a goalscoring oppertunity. Bishop had already kicked the ball past the post. I think its a penalty because Bishop got to the ball and was tripped by the keeper afterwards, but usually in that case once the player has shot or lost control of the ball a late challenge by a keeper or defender is ignored. I am certain we wouldn't have been given a penalty at the other end if it had been Cole through. If fact over the last season or so the same thing has happened several times with us attacking and its never been given
The keeper did not stop a goalscoring opportunity as the ball had already gone, the keeper did not stop the player getting to the ball as the ball went directly out of play and he could never have got to it. What is the infrigement here?
