Yea agree with all that Marc...as I stated earlier in this thread (half time)...our defence are all over the place and need time...the midfield lack pace and application. When we come up against teams who can press us high and use their own passing at pace we will struggle with that starting midfield. We were completely overrun in the midfield first half thank God he changed it with subs, who all did well.
Spot on. I can't understand watters coming on I'd rather we bring Marsh on but he wasn't even on the bench last night.
The one person that needs to use last night as a learning experience is Neil collins' we were very naive in the first half devoid of any pace or mobility in the midfield ' portsmouth just simply passed it around us ' second half was a different game altogether and we outplayed a very good team and he needs to think hard about team selection for sat.
That was my point. Have to confess, I've not been able to watch a great deal, in fact anything of this season. But any issues we'll have are obvious. When we lost the play off final, we all knew that would be the last we saw of Andersen and Thomas (losing Kitching was a surprise, given the fee we were holding out for), but the sale of Andersen gave us an opportunity to address one issue that was a big difference between us and the top two, that being lack of experience / leadership that led to us being so poor when conceding first. I would've liked to see us make an offer to Sonny Bradley. He went to Derby, who I believe are still capped in what salaries they can offer, so it wouldn't be pie in the sky. Or try to get Edwards in on loan again, both Williams and Benson both credited him with making the job at RWB easier, with his organisation. Instead we bought 2 defenders yet to play in the EFL, and one that had limited experience in the French lower leagues. We have a deeper squad this year, with a lot of talented players. We'll look great when things are going well. But who is going to help the younger players through when things are difficult?
I partly agree with that, but one of the standout performances of last season for me was Cadden in the two play-off games against Huddersfield, up against that young winger they had on loan. I thought Cadden was magnificent, particularly his defending. He'snot at that level at the moment so the defence have more pressure on them, but he'll get back there
Tbh honest I just thought I must have been in some kind of coma and missed it initially when I first read it.
