Kane wouldn’t get near any team of mine, i can rarely remember more than a handful of games where he’s been effective

I'd bring Shepherd back in for McCart. Would also still start Cadden.

Personally would have Shepherd back over McCart and Cadden over Dodgson. Would also be dropping Watters from the squad and bringing Marsh back in.

It was like 10 a side because we left Kane OK and they brought Kamara on.

Kane plays passes to a defender more often than a forward which is infuriating to watch. This is the player whose sublime pass on opening day led to a brilliantly taken Kitching goal. Is this going to be his one positive pass all season?

He looked very good against Burton, but I thought he was slow and one-dimensional tonight. Shepherd has done nothing to deserve getting dropped.

Kane much better 2nd half, but then he wasn't having to do Russell's work for him.

I think Phillips is on thin ice, done nothing on his return and only improved when he has the impressive O'Keefe on near him.

Wouldn't play Phillips.. been poor since he got his new deal. The best part of his game is his shooting. And he's stopped doing it.
Going nowhere with this defence.. if we can keep around top 6/8 up to Christmas by beating the poor attacking teams.. then get a couple of Bobby Thomas's in.. this season still may be better than just a transition..
But our defence at present, individually and as a hole, does not stand up to any kind of decent attacking threat.. and with it, this team cannot go on any kind of prolonged promotion challenge.
As a lot have pointed out.. selling/losing our entire back line and replacing with a lesser standard is and will, carry on to bite us.

Watters did nothing when he came on. Cosgrove put a shift in, but missed 2 very decent chances, maybe due to lack of game time. Agree Shepherd deserves a recall over McCart. We need some fresh legs anyway for Saturday.

I'd have Marsh on the bench for if we need fresh legs like last night and watters isn't the man for that.

    THIS.

Easy pass out to the right, balloons it into the air, Cadden furious, Pompey break and get the pen.

Also didn’t challenge for their third.

We said same last night. Ideal game for Marsh last night. Reds on top and chasing an equaliser.

Watters is one paced. Doesn’t look like a man trying to impress.

Until Connell is back, there is no way we can drop Russell. Styles has to come in for Phillips or Kane for me.

Might be a controversial post but I think the worst thing we could do is to over react & start making wholesale changes.

I think Cadden & Mcatee will lose their spots & that might be it.

The goals we conceded last night were soft & embarrassing ones to give away but I don’t think they’re the result of persistent issues. We just need to keep playing together & gel.

Russell was very poor last night but we were outnumbered in midfield in that first half. He's being playing well enough to merit another chance for me.
I'd leave Phillips out for Styles. Without a goal threat he doesn't offer much more to the side.
I'd also bring in O'Keefe although I admit that would be harsh on Cotter.

Just to be contrary - I thought Phillips had a good second-half.
