I've just been watching breakfast TV ,with Kevin P talking about saving Rhinos, when he started talking about Freddy returning to public duty since his crash. Well I missed that one, and after researching this ,it looks like he was lucky to survive ,left with broken ribs and horrific facial injuries. Air ambulance 45 minutes to get to the scene. BBC kept this one quiet or is it me that's gone off the radar regards this. Fair play to big Freddy ,mentoring the England cricket team this week for no pay. Top cricketer and top lad too. Keep going big man.
He looked a real mess at the recent T20s. Get well soon lad. By the way, who is Kevin P with regards to the Rhinos? Only Kevin P that comes to mind is Pietersen. It wasn't Kevin Sinfield was it?
Pietersen Didn't want to spell his surname incorect, but yes , he was talking about his work in South Africa saving the Rhino s from extinction. Made a mention that he had not spoke with Freddy in a long while and wished him well.
It’s been all over the news mate when it happened, and has been since, but to a lesser extent. Top Gear filming has been suspended ever since. He’s kept a low profile since it happened, and asked for privacy - and tbf the media have done that. Only since he was with the England team the other week has anyone seen him publicly. I’m no BBC fan, but this hasn’t been kept quiet at all.
I must have missed this when I was away in NZ for a while ,I only keep up with the news on here ,so if there was a thread I must have missed it.
My mates a close friend of his and does a lot of charity work together. When he was in hospital after it happened, he used to visit him once or twice a week and said he was in an unbelievable state and was touch and go for a while. He thought he'd never walk again and he was almost unrecognisable facially. What we have seen in the press over the last week or so, is his face over 6 months after his accident. That shows how many operations and work has gone in to his current condition, as he still has terrible facial injuries. Its a blessing he is still alive as it was a horrific accident at high speed.
Yeah he looked like a different bloke. Not so much from his face, which looked pretty badly hurt, but the look in his eyes. Just not quite the same person.
Yeah, he looked haunted. Poor bloke, must have been horrifically bad as it was still pretty obvious 9.months later. It looks like he has nerve damage on the right side of his face as there was an obvious droop around his mouth. Wish him all the best and hope he comes back his old self even if physically, it will always be there. I think that's Top Gear done now, can't see it ever coming back.
Eh? We are in the same cricket circles. Freddie came up in conversation and he said he'd been to see him and said he was in a bad way. It wasn't like he said hey guess what lads, Freddie is dying. That would be crass and insensitive. I have met Freddie at Old Trafford a few times with my mate, when we've been there together in hospitality. I'm actually a bit perplexed by your post tbf
It was a weird reply to be honest. Felt very needless considering the entire topic is discussing Flintoff and his recovery.
I’ve always liked Freddie and wish him all the best for his recovery, I an only guess what he has gone through! What really mystifies me though is what ******** at Top Gear thought it was a good idea having him in that car throwing it about, without a helmet on!
I'd completely forgot about this, which happened at the end of last year. I haven't seen recent appearances by him, but apparently it shows just how bad a crash it was, and then there's the psychological effects as well. Best of luck to him, always been a top bloke.
