A win's a win, but again, very unconvincing for me. P.s. did I hear it right earlier, reading that Watters was signed on a 4-year deal?
Pretty poor, but defensively excellent. Clean sheets win games. Ok, we conceded very late, but we only had 10 men. Strange how we've been defensively so good away, yet leaky as anything at home.
I concur. I've given him the benefit of the doubt so far, but he's looked completely and utterly gash this season.
That was a struggle. I look forward to the match all week then it is a slog just to get through it. I was doing some serious nodding there. At one point I heard myself snoring. At least the end was livened up, but for mostly the wrong reasons. How Barnsley won that I don't know.
Pretty dull, other than a 20 minute spell in the second half when it was clear they'd run out of steam and we were still fresh. But I'll take dull away victories all season thank you very much. And The Poppies equalised late on, so all good!
Strikers, particularly players like Watters, are form players. He’ll come good and make a few people look stupid. He’s only 24 too.
The Poppies are managed by Rab C Nesbitt! They're fast becoming my second favourite club. I've only known about them for about 2 hours and already I like them more than a lot of people on here like Barnsley.
Their fans online seemed to say different, and were hoping to sign him permanently. Either way, it's madness that we've got him in league 1 and he's potentially the key to us getting out of this division.
I hope you're right. He looked very very bad today, but to be fair so did Cosgrove, and I'm certainly not ready to write him off yet.
The usual collection of misplaced passes, negative passes, but then incisive passes. If only we could do more of the latter. As others have said it wasn't a great performance but, thank goodness, it didn't need to be. Northampton weren't bad but nowhere near good enough to hurt us. The late goal was as much to do with Lopata going off as them deserving to score a good goal. Luckily it was so near the end that we managed to maintain the lead. That miss from Styles was unbelievable. McAtee might have scored but Styles should definitely have done so. He did a kind of circle dance with the keeper, who was on the floor by the way, before finally saying "there you are - it's your ball". Why he didn't just slam it in is a mystery. He might be a probable certain starter, until he leaves, but that was a poor show from him, apart from his goal which was brilliant. You can talk about open goals but he instinctively lifted it over the keeper almost without thinking, not giving the keeper time to get back after a poor clearance. Superb goal, as was Devante's That second was similar to another one a few games ago where he intercepted a ball very deep in our half and just out ran their defenders. I was afraid he was going to pass to a likely offside Watters but he took it himself, and that's what happens when you are an in form striker. He could have hit it cleaner and the keeper got a hand to it but it still found the top corner. What a goal. What a striker we have! Overall, from my seat in front of the iFollow computer screen, it was a satisfactory performance but certainly could have been better. The points are all that matter though and now it's time to listen in to Phrase or Mumble which will obviously be dominated by those lovely blue and white fans
Another great away result but let’s be honest the performance was pretty poor our passing at times is woeful even when not under pressure with Phillips being the biggest culprit he had a shocker and don’t get me started about Watters.
A win is of course a good result but I think it'd be hard to argue we deserved it. We were poor today. In the end Styles has won it with one of the very few bits of quality in the game.
