If we're only offered 500k for him in January, and we're in the mix for promotion, I don't think this board will sell him. If a desperate championship club want him they'll have to show that desperation in dinero.
More than one player has been allowed their contract to run down in the past with these owners what makes you think it will be different?
Difference being, Winnall had a release clause in his contract. We couldn't turn down the offer. We can with Cole.
Totally agree. Hopefully we can get him to sign a new deal but if not we should aim to sell him early in the window and reinvest every penny on his replacement. Weren't Peterborough trying to sell Clarke Harris? He could be an instant impact player to help achieve promotion.
A lot of the stick started in the championship when he tried doing that turn on the edge of our box which would have put him clear but instead lost the ball and they scored, he showed today what picture he had in his mind at the time. I've always liked him and thought he could improve with belief shown in him, credit to him for doing so well.
To be fair if I was Cole I’d be off for sure if there was a better offer. Stick he’s had here since signing (probably from me too tbf) would hardly inspire me to show loyalty.
You right pal....and if (god forbid) he goes on a dry spell and don’t score for 5. Or 6 games they will be hounding him out again !
Folk that are writing watters and cosgrove off know naff all about football your embarrassing yourselves.
Don't think anyone are writing either off. Some including myself saying they have been poor so far regarding the fees paid for them in the past. They both especially Watters need to get up to speed.
I said at the start of the season I would be happy if he got a couple more than last year but I feel I need to amend that prediction now! A new contract would be excellent news for us.
Apart from 4 or 5 people on here, does he really get that much stick? He's the only striker who gets his own song and his goals last season and this have surely silenced his critics. He hasn't had any stick from where we sit in the Ponty End.
He's very much a confidence player and I know it's all about the money but going to a struggling championship side in January won't be a good move for him. They'll expect him to hit the ground running but I fear the goals would dry up with the pressure put on him.
If Cole goes in January. I hope he goes to the right club. It's easy to jump a division to a Middlesbrough or Wednesday. However, at a struggling side you'll lose your touch. Starved of chances, dropping deep, going out wide. While your in touch you need a side playing well or you lose it.
I think he's one of the original type strikers that we remember in the 80s, and maybe the 90s as well, who does get better with age. These late 20s years for him are the best of his career so far, so good luck to him. I'd be very disappointed though if we do just sell out to anybody who comes up with the first half a mill offer.
Cosgroves had 1 start ffs give him time. I've been disappointed with watters but can't write him off yet either
