Watched the EFL Trophy match and was pleasantly impressed with all the youngsters given a run out. The trio of post-match interviews were also refreshing to see three lads just keen to to pull on the shirt and do their best. All complemented the support and coaching arrangements and Collins' approach. For me, loads of positives about the playing aspects of the club were apparent - from first team down. Good crop of talent for further development coming through and being nurtured in the right way. Credit to the coaching team.
not to be a party pooper but i felt the same about danny rose, noble-lazurus, digby some of them lads you were impressed by will be at penistone church in a few year
wow another dig at a player who did great for bfc if these young lads have half his career they've done tremendously well
if he stayed i get the feeling some of you folks would be lauding him, as you like to back the club, just my instinct
That's always been the case, and always will be the case. This crop though look far beyond anything we've had in total before. There's not just 1 or 2 who look like they can have a decent career, there's quite a bunch who look to have the ability & potential. Just need to be nurtured properly now. Unlike RNL/Moon etc
Noble-Lazarus & Digby were badly effected by injury. Both solid league careers without injuries. In fact Digby’s a regular starter in league one. Rose has had a good career, regular in league 1 & 2 & scored plenty of goals. Why not mention Stones & Clark from the same team?
this is just always the thing with barnsley fans every other fanbase in the country sees snippets of their academy players and think they have something special for the future we always have an amazing crop coming through, then 90% of them dont make it, then the next crop is amazing and so forth
FFS I've seen 3 games in the cup plus 2 under 21s ,and I have to say the OP is spot on Watch out for Nathan James ,he is a stand out for a young lad.
You are overcooking it with the statement. This is without a doubt what appears to be the best crop for many a yr. (Winning the league last season helps bear testament to that) Previous yrs it's been one or two coming through. I see more potential and talent in quite a few of this lot. It'll not happen overnight to em all at the same time. Eg I dont think Jalo is ready yet. (He will get there) Marsh is closer to the first team squad. Every now and then. several make it from the same group. But Admittedly you are right on most occasions. Just the odd one or two. Make it professionally. Only time will prove one of us right or wrong with this group. I'd rather it be me than you. For obvious reasons. You came out with Meh. On one of the matchday threads when you saw the score. Maybe a little support wouldnt go amiss for the young ones. Or is that only reserved for the ladies team. ?
a laughable argument earlier on i must say danny rose- key player for mansfield & stevenage james norwood- key player for ipswich and barnsley
i have never seen these young lads play to be honest not been to any league cup, pizza cup, friendlies just making a general point
Well how can you make an assumption, if you have never seen them play. I'm on the same page as Hooky ,a bit of support won't do them any arm whatsoever. Rather than beating on about how 2 good seasons Nors as had in the 3rd tier ,scoring a dozen or so goals.
Agree with original poster some of the crop look decent, James in particular, and yes we've seen many false dawns with young players as the step up is huge but lets get behind our lads..COYR
Always been somewhat sceptical/critical over our ability to develop players, however with the crop coming through that challenges that and is great to see. Nothing negative about seeing the success of the youth side last year and those players stepping on and worth us remembering that getting them to here is not something that can be achieved overnight and the club/academy deserve praise. It shows consistency works and hopefully will help the first team eventually gain that. Equally we should accept it will take further time to progress again.
