A few months back there was a post regards this. I'm on my 3rd day after the op. 2 really bad nights I can't remember it was as bad as this. Old age and memory. Seems that the swelling IS worse than the second day ,and flexing so more difficult. However I spent 2 night in hospital two years ago, I was home within 24 hours ,so maybe this is why I am noticing the swelling and pain more ,any advice I was giving it ,but can't find the thread. TIA
It's just as well we forget how much pain is involved. Good luck with it ,I'm struggling with pain. My Mrs says it's no different to last time 2 yrs ago.
I’m currently suffering with knee pain. Murder when getting up from sitting but once mobile it’s easier and pain only mild discomfort. Been suffering for the last 2 months and now seems to be getting worse. When I go to bed my ankle is swollen and when I get up the swelling is mostly gone only to return later at night. Got the doc on Thursday so it will be interesting what the diagnosis is.
That ankle swelling doesn't sound good. My Dad and both uncles suffer with that and have to wear special vascular socks. Could be your heart?
Could be mate. I unfortunately do have heart concerns. Got a pacemaker fitted. Does the swelling affect both your uncles ankles? It only affects my left ankle same leg as my dodgy knee.
My Dad has swelling in both ankles. He's had a little toe amputated and still has an ulcer on his other leg. They're a ******* to treat. My uncle Brian was in hospital for a month while they tried to drain his leg.
Cheers Steve and all the best to your dad and uncle. I’m quite sure my ankle swelling is due to the knee pain. Strangely enough my friend Johnny is suffering similar. Knee pain and ankle swelling which like me disappears overnight. Ach I’ll just wait and see what the doc says on Thursday.
Tbh A I I've suffered for years, torn meniscus op on my right knee and my left one isn't that good tbh, it's practically impossible for a GP to give a diagnosis because there is loads that could be wrong with a knee, he will no doubt ( hopefully) book you in for Physio, he/ she will give you exercises to help manage the pain, failing that then and little to no improvement then Xray/ MRI to get to the crux of the problem, I got sent for a xray to see if skeletal issues, everything fine and no wear, so it's a MRI next to check cartilage and soft tissue etc, I hope it's a quick route for you, my right knee pain was getting me down and causing me to be more miserable than I already am, fortunately it was operated on ( which they don't like doing and prefer physio) it's 100% better but it won't ever be like before, good luck
HiBazza I had my knee replaced 6weeks ago and I’m going to tell you the truth here,if my other one packs in it can stop as it is there is no way I’m going to have it done.It is still swollen but not half as bad.I went to physio about 2wks ago In Barnsley and she gave me extra exercises which I did faithfully but I seem to have gone backwards since then. She just drummed into me exercise and more exercise I go on short walks but it just feels like a lump of lead.It doesn’t hurt with pain it’s just a deep dull ache constantly day and night. It will get better no doubt but don’t expect it to be quick.Hope this helps it’s a bugger getting old mate
