We've got Spackman, Johnson and Schopp Mk 2. That's the problem. I'll apply for job and get us promoted.
Totally agree he looked brilliant in a well organised structured team last season but with our current tactics he'll either be standing watching the back 3 pass to each other or further up field chasing panicked hoofs.
Massively unfairly, as even when we see him he’s going to be massively behind on fitness and will need time to get up to speed - but sadly he’ll probably be rushed into the side out of perceived necessity - to boost the morale of the fan base if nothing else. We are missing Luca Connell hugely but I suspect when he returns he won’t be the same one we saw last season, at least not initially.
Collins doesn't look like he's good enough unfortunately , same could probably be said of our defence. I'm guessing McCart is one of his signings.
Collins must have been the only person at Oakwell today who thought that team was his best available starting XI, and therein lies the problem. I see no evidence that he's capable of identifying the best team/tactics to match the stronger teams in the division. We're tactically naive, and 4 home league defeats already speaks for itself. He's been fortunate in that we've achieved decent results away from home so far, but largely against weaker teams. Our league position flatters us and, central defence apart, he has stronger options to choose from within his squad than most managers in this division. He's yet to convince me that he's capable of getting the most out of them, and that's a concern. I expected the combined playing experience of him and Stead to have enabled him to make the transition to EFL management successfully. The fact that we really haven't shown any sign of progress from the start of the season to now suggests I might need to re-evaluate that expectation. I'm not convinced that I'll be any wiser about our identity after another 10 league games. I fully expect a continuation of this game to game inconsistency, which is a concern. I hope that he proves me wrong. I'm not ready to hit the panic button yet, but I remain unconvinced by him.
I’m totally unconvinced but he should be given until Xmas and see where we’re at. I predict we will be bottom half as we turn into 2024
That’s very true. Hopefully he’ll be getting more training in and can be eased in. That being said, I can’t see how Luca being involved (whenever that will be) wouldn’t be a boost for everyone connected to the club.
14th finish. Defence isn’t good enough and beating teams down at the bottom but not good enough for those at the top. Collins out of his depth but can’t see any changes soon. He’ll be well under pressure after January.
I had a lot of sympathy for the Coach because, we’ll frankly, he’s been given a right bag of bo||ocks by the Owners. We’re defensively shambolic and a poor side in a dreadful Division. The Division is so bad, we look competitive! Bizarre. Today was simply awful, dull and frustrating in equal measure. The greatest concern for me is I have absolutely no idea how we are trying to play. Collins has had had 10 games to create that and, although we shouldn’t expect to see the finished product yet, we ought to have an inkling of what style of football we’re trying to produce. But I genuinely haven’t a clue. The worry about a lot of that nonsense today was that it looked liked we were trying to be a ‘Russell Martin Swansea’ but without the players to carry it off and zero end product.
It’s a no from me.After 10 games you would like to see a little progress.I honestly think we will be in this league for a long time because you know come January we will be cherry picked again and a couple more of our best players gone. All we seem to get out of our manager is. it’s a learning curve and then next match comes and it seems we have learned nothing.
Yes I agree with all that I wanted to make the point that irrespective of the failings the board have made this squad is still good enough to get promoted this season. We didn't lose today because of a poor defence but because of tactics and team selection. If Collins wants a successful career coaching in English football then he won't get a better chance than this now with us. So he needs to step up quickly and make it happen.
I've not been on abart Norwood for a laugh Its clear as day he is greatly missed With Mcattee and Cole we are just powder puff Cosgrove is a tedic type targetman Norwood hasn't been replaced at all and its left a glaring hole up top
