We've had the best, we've had the worst.... But who is the most average Barnsley player ever. A 6/10 if there ever was one. Never did anything outstanding, but never dropped a clanger. I propose Sam Togwell. Is there anyone more average?
all were bang average as players @ BFC Alan Clarke Norman Hunter David Johnson Jan Molby Danny Wilson Viv Anderson Geoff Thomas Clayton Blackmore
I'd have to disagree sorry. Imo .Most of those. Their quality shone through. Might have been short stints but all the same. You could see it in spades. Danny had a disastrous first season. Then deservedly won POTY year after.
Jim Dobbin. 6 out of 10 every game (for whatever reason giving a player a 5 suggests they were poor, Jim wasn't, he was average, hence the 6). Very little to dislike or get enthused about. He was alright was Jim, tried not to let anyone down, played the game as best he could and was a decent average player.
Lee Butler Mattie Appleby Gary Fleming Owen Archdeacon Andy Rammell Anthony Kay Craig Ireland Neil Austin Paul Hayes Jim O’Brien
i will agree about Danny got better but rest past there sell by date only reason we got em. the post is about average not good and not bad
that’s just a list of names. At least 6 of those made major contributions to teams in or around the play offs / promotion with a couple of player of the years in there too!
Consistently following since 09/10 ish. Bang average players by definition don't stand out but here's my attempt: Daniel Bogdanovic Lewin Nyatanga Adam Jackson David Perkins Martin Cranie George Moncur Kenny Dougall Aapo Halme Jason McCarthy Gary Gardner
Good shout on Adam Jackson. Perfectly average centre back. Never really let us down, but I can't remember ever thinking "bloody hell, Jackson was brilliant today".
Great shout with Healy. I liked Burns. Matt Done was probably the most average footballer I can think of.
Depends on how you look at it mate. My opinion is that whilst playing for us. (I note that all of your choices played at the highest level) their quality still shone through whilst playing for us. Tis Why I didnt class em as average. They may not have been at their peak fitness wise. but their reading of the game was still there and shone out against the opposition and some of our own.
