One of my favourites was Wigan away in 2016 on the last day. They’d just won the league & we needed to win to confirm a play off spot. Loads of us were in fancy dress & we were cruising from early in the second half. Party atmosphere it was great.
Cardiff City under Flicker. Thatcher died the day before and I drunk a bottle of champagne for her. Severely hungover I drove from Luton to Cardiff on my own for the game on a Tuesday afternoon. We got battered for 95 minutes then fluked a deflected winner off Foster to stop them winning the league on the night, their fans were going ballistic. only about 150 tarn fans there that night loving it. Drove home still hungover in my shitheap of a Vauxhall Corsa. M4 was closed so I had to go through loads of country roads in Gloucestershire(?). My car har an electrical problem so the headlights, speedo and satnav would all work intermittently. Fućk knows how I got home in one piece that night but I did. Great memories.
Peterborough away under Stendel. Decided to stay over. Had a cracking day/night out and the reds won 4-0.
Another cracker. I had a new pair of boots on. When we scored there was a kop style surge to the front. When we got out at end I realised I'd scuffed the fook out of my boots.
Sheff Utd away, not sure of the year but Shipperley scored the winner with a flash shot that came off the underside of the bar, really exposed their keeper - Allan Kelly I think was in nets for them. I think Bruce got the opener.
Walsall away 2000. Few beers in their social club at the ground. We won 4-1, Hignett hat-trick IIRC. I didn't. Sheron (2), Shipperley, Appleby.
It was Friday sir. In the bar, they put handwritten sheets on the beer pumps saying “ Yorkshire Bitter “
Twerton Park ( Bath) under the lights , midweek game 92, probably because I was young and my knees and back didn't hurt
i mean barnsley and millwall both come high on arrests each year but i think in general both passionate, working class, down to earth folk
Huddersfield 1 Barnsley 3 The Huddersfield fans thought they only had to turn up to win, it was wonderful seeing Jackson crying at the end especially after the way he'd celebrated their goal.
Wolves away 1990 I think. Was living in the Midlands and took some mates from my footy team with me. Ran out 0-5. "Is it always like this" they asked. "Oh aye, all the time" More recently Fulham away, 0-3. Great atmosphere, very good night followed ...
I was there, and have the Foster Goal comms somewhere. Matt Bailey was fantastic. I'll post when I find it.
Peterborough away. 3-0 up, and we only just won 4-3 in the end. I think Peterborough got it back to 3-3 just after the break. Rochdale away in the cup too. Stones scoring for us, the goal keeper getting sent off and Bobby H going in goal for extra time.
Peterborough. Stendel. Pottsy on the wing. Giving Steve Evans jip. Brown with some delicious skill. Toney missing a pen. And another 0-4, especially away at a challenging club, scoreline was a real statement from us. It was only around October, but that was the day I knew we'd be promoted come May
