We've had favourite away game, so let's have your favourite away ground. Up there for me has to be Luton, as we all know what the away end looks like. After that, I think I'm going to say Millwall. It's a proper old school ground, and when you leave away fans go down their own 'away' path which leads you straight into thousands of Millwall fans coming straight at you. That path is also a little bit daunting when you are early for the match and nobody is around. Blackburn - again, old school ground with lovely pie shop across the road, and I think, my first ever away ground.
Bramall Lane. A brilliant example of how a stadium can be modernised while retaining the original feel and atmosphere. Plus I've seen us play there 6 times and we've never lost. Upton Park was also a quality stadium. Sadly lost to greed and "progress".
Millwall was built in 1991/1992 and consists of 4 symmetrical stands of the same design, it’s far from proper old school ! in answer to your question though: Hungerford Town
No longer with us but Highbury! Went to Emirates on Sunday which is very impressive but not as good as Highbury- Go along with Villa Park as well - just for fact there are pubs in the stand a shout out to Carlisle
Always felt to be made welcome at a few grounds, Walsall, Fleetwood, Rochdale, and special mention to Accrington Stanley.
Went to see Galatasaray on Saturday, amazing atmosphere, nice food, but no beer. Can only dream that one day I’ll be in the away fans corner there cheering on Barnsley!
Only went once for an FA Cup game in around 2002 or 2003 I think. Turned up at the ground 24 hours early by accident, as had completely forgotten the match was on a Sunday. Phoned @Jimmy viz and @Chef Tyke to find out why they were nowhere to be seen, although the general lack of people anywhere in the vicinity had already set the alarm bells ringing. Luckily, Jimmy was already in York (intentionally!) so an excellent tour of the local hostelries ensued. Brilliant weekend, decent match by the very mediocre standards of the time, great entertainment watching Mitch Ward get angry.
Always liked Chesterfield, new ground especially, steady walk down from train station and a few beers before and after match. Fulham’s a decent away day, and enjoyed my 1 and only trip to MK Dons when we won in the FA cup that time.
Yeah MK Dons is a good un. Out of all the new type builds. Loads of leg room, good view and walking in at ground level then down to seats makes it really accessible. Used to like Maine Road, just the atmosphere it was electric when full there.. Millenium another good one for atmosphere, kept the noise in far better than new Wembley and in a better location.
Any we win at,I would go with Fulham as well off the tube nice walk through that park no idea of its name relaxed atmosphere. That new stand looks something else not sure my pockets are deep enough though and the cottage great mix of old and new.
Filbert Street when they gave us the corner pen and seats above. Great atmosphere especially on a night game! Also didnt mind the walk to/from a ground if was "a risky one"
