Has anyone been to Munich? I'm off tomorrow for a long weekend (birthday celebration). There are 10 of us (a lads trip). Does anyone have any recommendations?
Couple of ideas, more food than beer related, but don't worry there'll be plenty of beer opportunities https://www.ratskeller.com/ https://www.muenchen.de/en/sights/attractions/viktualienmarkt-top-sight-munich
What about a regionalliga or oberliga game. I'd expect there to be a game on Saturday in or around Munich.
You’ll be spoilt for options but your question does remind me of when we went around ten years ago and an old lad in brammahs overheard us having this very conversation and he said “tha wants to gu see that fuckin wall that spectates it into two” mi mate replied “yer mean Berlin?” his reply “nerw av niver bin but av alus fancied it”
Augsburg at home to Darmstadt in bundesliga Saturday about 30 minutes on train. I’m biased we go to watch them at least once a year. Really nice city. Hofbrauhaus is good but I prefer lowenbrau Keller or Augustiner brewery bar. All the beer halls a good. Typical Bavarian food in Ratskeller in Marienplatz can’t get more central. As you can guess been many times a wonderful city.
Been numerous times and it's a fantastic place. I would say that it can be difficult for big groups of lads to get into some places, particularly as the evening progresses, but the bierkellers are easy going. Good beer, top snap and speedy service. I also recommend Kennedy's Irish bar - decent for sport and no problems getting in. I also did a walking beer tour with a crazy Canadian guy - showed some really interesting history throughout the city but got plenty of ale into us at the same time. Wish I could remember the details of the guy but hopefully google might find his details. Beyond the bars, go into the park because there's an interesting 'natural surf' spot on the river called Eiswachwelle. Nice to have a few drinks and watch. Worth keeping your eyes peeled for young local lads causing trouble when in the pubs. Seems there's a bit of rivalry, particularly with British lads, but most are friendly.
Dachau concentration camp is not far from the city. Worth a visit if you’re interested in WWII history
I think it might have been actually. Would highly recommend - we did the walking one. Beer bikes are awful.
