That's a very good post, but it's not relevant to my point - maybe I quoted the wrong poster.

My point is that every time we lose a game, folk on here wet their nappies and throw hissy fits. But when we win, then either the opposition were rubbish, we were lucky or someone kissed a leprechaun.

Neither is right - we just need some perspective either way, especially when the backline has essentially been rebuilt from last year and arguably our best player is unavailable.

The title of this thread is evidence of this.

I pulled someone up on here about it after the Port Vale game. It was someone who had been criticising the managerial appointment, recruitment, pre-season results and pretty much everything to do with the club all summer, then had the cheek to say they were going to wait 10 games before making judgement after our biggest win for over 70 years.

Supporters pay their money and have a right to voice concerns ( but not be abusive or insulting)..I was in the camp that the loss of the whole back 4, two to loans and a failure to buy and 2 to selling, would result in a bad start to the season. on top of that we sold our centre forward and one of our main subs in Thomas ..we also lost our Manager...surely anyone would be pessimistic about the immediate future and some results like Saturday back that up. On the plus side the away results are astounding and praise should be heaped on the lads for this..I also posted as we started the season this is now our team and we should get behind them, I also don't agree with sack the manager as again it's too early to judge. I will repeat one if my posts by saying learning on the job is not really the best way and solid settled sides like Portsmouth will be the real opposition. He needs to find his first eleven but am not sure if 10 of us tried we'd each come up with the same 11, Russell is the perfect example, Brill last night but poor in other games..gonna take a bit longer to suss but will change again when Luca comes back..

I don’t get the negativity at all tbh, I remember watching Lincoln city give us a footballing lesson at home last season, didn’t stop almost making the top 2 in the end. It’s a 46 game season(or whatever) not a 12 game season, we have strength in depth other teams don’t, with a new manager trying to manage in a new league with largely new players in several key areas. The early signs are positive, this league is won or lost from Christmas to February, not in September/ October.

Exacrly - Doesn't help getting carried away either way - football is fickle we know things can change very quickly.

Is Connell going to get fit anytime soon and, when he comes back, will he be the same player?
Will Phillips get back to the form and the way he was allowed to play last season?
Will we find a back three that works by Christmas?
Will the manager learn on the job or will he make any more inexplicable team selections like last Saturday?
Will he pick and give a decent run to someone to partner Cole?
Will Cole continue his sparkling start to the season?
All the above have a huge impact on how our season unfolds and there's not one of us have a clue about the answer to any of them.
If most, or all, fall our way then all that can be said is that currently we're in a good position.

Thank fck you're not on the board.

No doubt you'll bounce back at the next defeat like the rest of the "burger van, I want it all and I want it now" set.

Cambridge have a decent home record and prior to last night had only conceeded 3 goals at home.

Even though Watters scored and McAtee missed a straight forward chance I'd pick the latter over the former any day.
Watters lacks something for me. I can't quite put my finger on it.

    Talent perhaps.

Per minutes played he scores one every two games. He doesn't catch the eye, granted, but them's the facts.

Tbf my grandma could have saved that shot last night and she's in her 90s keeper should have done alot better... he does have a decent mpg ratio and I'd like to see him or Cosgrove given a long run.

I was pleasantly surprised when I saw Watters had scored, and hoped this would spark a run of form. I’ve since seen the goal and he was helped by a poor bit of goalkeeping, who should have easily stopped it. Nevertheless, it might hopefully give him more confidence to get some shots off.

Definitely but if you read the thread not many people actually called for that. Alot questioned his team selection, tactics and the fact we have lost 4 home games already without asking for him to be sacked.

Not watched the match yet redrum. I'd hazard a guess that one or two of Cole's goals this season have been pretty simple but he's classed as being on fire. Same as in golf, there's no pictures on the scorecard. :)

Wasn't the fact that it was simple he hits a shot which was straight at the keeper a routine save not travelling that hard and it just goes through the keepers hands who has a absolute mare.
I think he's classed as been on fire because he scored the most in the division he was top scorer last season aswell. If we are to challenge we need another striker to chip on with goals.

It's good that others a stepping up and scoring - Cole hasn't scored in his last 2, so it's nice we've got other options hopefully.

Cole has over performed his XG hugely this season so far - so there'll be some regression to the norm to be expected.

I dont understand why people are wanting Collin's out,yes our home form needs to improve but our away form is best in league and maybe all 4 divisions

I've just looked and we are 4th in the table I realise we should be top but considering Connell is out and we have a new back 3 and have significant defensive injuries, it's not bad.
If we are still top 4 at Christmas should we then think about sacking him as I presume only top place is good enough or do we give him a chance?
