And that's before you factor in how much prices have gone up in the meantime. A £13k deposit can't get you much right now - what will it stretch to in 2038?
Haha, posting after a night out in Phuket was always a bad idea. Happy my grammar was better than my maths
Very much trying not to be mean here, but I think my actual landlord spends a lot of time on holiday as well. He's had £120k out of me over the last six years, and I haven't made a penny. Are you going to look again at the calculations in the post that you made earlier and reassess your opinion?
Honestly it's laughable to believe you think you have a right to ask anyone this kind of question; talk about condescending. The usual sly bullying from the leftist clique that haunts the BBS. Ignore this rubbish Mr Dawson, your contribution to the BBS is far more enjoyable and worth many times more than theirs. One of these days I'll stand you a pint in Ponte.
Don't know what you're all complaining about. Just need to find an account with 100% annual interest.
It's laughable to think that I can ask someone who feels let down by the Tories what he thought they would do for him and why he feels let down? It's a open forum and it was an honest question not a pretext for "bullying." Talk of condescension is hilarious when you look back at your own posts - they're positively dripping in it. Although curiously the condescending posts about Brexit and remainers seem to have stopped...
Well the last Labour government the got voted in did its bit to privatise the NHS, crippled the trust closest to me and took part in a illegal war that killed millions of innocent people. When people say never trust a politician they have a point.
How dare he ask a question on a public forum. How dare he engage in discussion in such a manner like that?
My opinion is that there will always be a need for a rental market. Students, young professionals and those who choose a more transient lifestyle need it. I believe in an ideal world this should be mainly state owned and controlled, I think Austria has the best model I've seen with excellent social housing. I also would go much further with first time buyers and offer 0% mortgages to those who have demonstrated an ability to save/budget over a set period of time. In the current market, landlords don't make much if any money off rent, the profits come from the properties increase in value and refinancing the mortgage. If the state isn't going to step in, I believe we need a buoyant rental market where the needs of tenants and the ability of landlords to meet these are in balance. If it swings too far in the tenants favour landlords will sell up, there'll be less rental properties, demand will fuel rent rises and house prices will fall due to oversaturation. If it swings too far in the landlords favour, everyone will be buying extra houses creating a property bubble and inevitably a large crash. I think after renting for 6 years you have demonstrated an ability to save and budget a long time ago and should be offered a 0% mortgage or similar.
The ‘hit and run’ Tory apologists on here were ever thus. They’re desperate just like their adored ones in Parliament and will resort to calls of bullying if their opinion is trashed, which when supporting Tories isn’t hard to do.
Hate is a very strong word. I teach my boy not to use it. The Tory party however, are testing me to the absolute limit. I despise them and everything they stand for. Watching clips from the Conference this week has turned my stomach. My personal view is that anyone who supports their vile philosophy and awful awful policies, is either incredibly selfish or incredibly stupid. Sometimes both. Barnsley Tories should feel particularly ashamed.
I've never liked Barnsley whites. (Leeds fans masquerading as Barnsley fans for a live football fix). You know as soon as they open their mouths where their allegiance lies.
What with Braverman giving the Enoch powell rivers of blood speech the day before and now this' it just makes it clear as day that 30p Lee was right when he said the tories next election campaign would be fought on culture wars' this is just the start' its quite literally the only weapon they have to fight with' Starmer ought to be filling his boots at present but instead just sits sniping from the sidelines' no policies no direction' he needs to be careful because the current tory strategy will appeal to an awful lot of knuckle draggers..
