Doug O'Kane Club statement on Khaled El-Ahmad: “Khaled El-Ahmad will be here until the end of the season at least, as per the terms of his contract. Discussions are always ongoing at board level, especially with regards to a key position in the club like this…
He may be going to announce that HS2 is now going to go through Barnsley and that a new bridge will be built at Jumble Lane.
Ok, so his contract is until the end of the season. If the club think he's worth it then we need to offer him a new contract. If the club don't think he's worth it, start looking for a replacement and try and get someone in before January and stick Khaled on gardening leave. Don't leave it until next summer when he can just **** off and then start looking.
Why stick him on gardening leave? Allow him to get the new fella settled. Show him around the club, get him meeting with players & staff, the recruitment team. Help him for the last few months get to grips with that the club have done/is trying to do, I hope that's what we do if he is leaving anyway
If he and the appropriate people in the club have done their jobs properly a competent person should be able to take over with virtually no issues. I do agree though that a hand over would be best option.
