I’d forgotten about that one. I wonder if the Hersham Boys will be running riot in the town before the match?
Horsham in Isthmian Premier are in Tier 7, so the equivalent to Scarborough (shame it wasn't to be Scarborough). If they score against us I expect their commentator to go ballistic, probably be heard over the visiting supporters. No idea what team we'll put out but Horsham will view it as fantastic to be drawn against the tram 3rd highest in the grouping of clubs for 1st round ( 68 teams?)
I think Scarborough are step 2 conference north (tier 6) Horsham play in the isthmian premier, the equivalent of the Northern Premier league which as you’ve said is tier 7.
The Barrow commentators annoyed me a few seasons ago, in the amazing 5-4 game at Oakwell. But I suppose it was funny after all, and I wouldn't have minded if it was against any other team lol. And remember how well Ian Banks Jnr played against us that day, in what was his and their Cup Final.
Don't mind that. Hope we don't give him anything to get excited about like, but I love people who show passion for their side.
Had to check on the map, looks like it's just north of Brighton so a fair old trek. Huge game for them, so I reckon a couple of thousand. Hopefully we'll get a crowd of 10k+ though I can't see it.
Did anyone see the Dorking manager/owner/chairman's comments on their performance against Horsham? Brilliant
I always want the underdogs to do well in the cup - or at least show what they are capable of. I wouldn't mind if they score 1 - provided we score 3-4 first...
Best part is that is the interviewer doesn't even blink, so I don't imagine this is a one off. I think the expletives are a regular occurrence to the point where they're barely even noticed.
The media guy is new this year but you are right, if the players haven’t performed he’s not scared to say what everyone sees in colourful language! He will name individual players too when required which I like, but on the flip will also praise them too in a similar manner, he says if the players don’t buy into this, or won’t buy into the Dorking way of doing things they are free to leave, he’s usually worked them out before that happens though It works for him and Dorking, last year there we’re a few boos form the crowd as the team were struggling in the league, litterally for the first time in there existence, he told the fans to f*ck off too! if they come to boo don’t bother coming at all… he actually had fans turn up at his office to personally apologise!
The thing about that song is you'd think Hersham was like some grubby Milwall type enclave, but it is sandwiched between Walton on Thames and Esher in one of the most prosperous areas in the country. And Horsham is pretty nice as well.
