    No one on here will admit but if they got their wish & Bellingham played deeper instead of Phillips that 2nd goal doesn’t happen.

    I’d much rather Southgate’s approach & play a balanced side than try & force your best 11 individuals into the same side like Sven & Capello used to. If that means a Phillips or Henderson plays alongside Rice then so be it. If it gets the best out of Bellingham & Foden & limits their defensive duties then fair enough.

    Just because the strongest part of our squad is our number 10’s & wingers doesn’t mean we should play 4 of them in the same side.

    Apologies if mistaken, but I don't think anyone has suggested playing Bellingham more defensively have they? Ward-Prowse should have been playing instead of Phillips, he's been excellent this season. Especially against this Italy side who plays a defensive-style system

    In recent years, City haven't made many mistakes in the transfer market - but he's certainly top of that list. Made no sense what so ever to sign him, decent premier league midfielder, nowhere near the quality of City, certainly doesn't fit into their style of play

    I don’t know how Southgate gets away with it. Course it’s all down to Italy being so bad, nothing to do with team selection or our playing style

    Seeing goals like our last two make up for some of the negative stuff they play. I appreciate that there has to be some negativity but it’s not good to watch. All teams play if though and it drives me mad when I see it at Oakwell.

    They're not a patch on their former selves. Barella or Tonali would be the only player to get into our squad in place of Phillips/Henderson. And Donnarumma in the nets probably. But other than that...

    Yes plenty have. Not always tonight but I’ve seen plenty on here calling for either Foden or Maddison to play the number 10 role.
