Really feel for the hundreds of Reds fans trying to get home tonight. I say this from the comfort of a wine bar in Waterloo. Loads were on the tube at Leyton not knowing how they were getting home. Apparently Kings Cross closed and trains cancelled. It’s only by good fortune that I am staying in Surrey tonight - otherwise I’d be in the same predicament.
Glad you’re sorted. The lads on our tube had notifications that their train was cancelled and Kings Cross was closed. They were going there regardless.
If they were Geordie's though, they would easily walk it home in just their t-shirts (or so they keep telling us).
It was also noticeable that there were lots of spare seats in the sold out away end. Such a shame for people to make plans and not get there.
Thanks. I hope my post didn't come across wrong. I was hoping they'd changed the timetables to get people home. Apparently the one I got wasn't due to stop before York
Kings Cross was closed down due to overcrowding. LNER then said they were cancelling trains due to flooding on the line. I’ve had messages from friends who are on trains but severely overcrowded.
Me and my lad were two of those. Booked train from Wakefield Westgate to King's X. Got Westgate and told to go to Leeds. Got to Leeds and told to go to York The train we had just got off would have taken us to York had we stayed on it. York train did not leave station so we opted to go back to Wakey and drive to Donny. Told at Donny our tickets were valid on ANY train. Next Kings X train arrives and we were told our tickets were not valid. Another Kings X train pulls in but was too full for us to get on. So we came home because it could have we been well turned 2 when we got to Kings X if the next trains were accommodating.
I've got as far as Grantham from King's Cross with no further info - I'm going to Nottingham so a cab isn't beyond the realms of possibility if the train is canceled. Feel for those traveling back to Tarn though.
